Since the late eighties of the past century, cities all over the world have been explored under the view of Parkour. In each new place where a traceurs community is born, their places begin to be transformed, filled with a dynamic motion that converts in a lapse their motionless benches, their hard walls and their cold handrails. By filming and publishing materials through the Internet —important in their origins, as the way to understand the quick diffusion of the activity from the Parisian outskirt to the rest of the world— it has achieved that many of this milieu pass to occupy a notorious position within the parkour map; thereby uncovering a problematic about those locations since, although, it could be conducive for the discipline, traceurs must be able to transcend them and keep exploring and discovering new possibilities wherever they go, demonstrating the adaptability of the body in motion as a basic principle of the activity. It will be discussed, in this paper, to look into about how some of these spaces that, in itself, unnoticed for most of the population of a city, are shown as interesting places and of great encouragement to the collective of traceurs, who use them as areas for training and playing. It will be approached the particular example of Lisses, birthplace of the discipline, and its transformation into “pilgrimage centre” for young people around the world with centre in la Dame du Lac. Also will value an activity that tries to explore the environment in looking for opportunities of movement and body expression escaping from the rigidity of urban structures by converting those spaces in places where the imagination can fly and develop freely.

This paper is aim to talk about the question of parkour as the activity in the urban environment able to create new spaces and, to establish an analysis on the frame of the aesthetics of the sublime. It will be divided in three parts: an introduction to sketch an evolution and an explanation, what is parkour?. Secondly, the development in the one that will speak of the parkour as exploratory and communicative activity; to continue with the relation that is tried to establish by the sublime; At last, the final considerations with regard to the topic.

The city and its public spaces, places of walking, and transit to citizens, are being re-thinking and re-using through movement. A body movement that takes the name parkour. A new point of view for the space and a new way to understand the place that a person looks into it. In this research note is intended to establish a number of indications to know this activity and to provide clues that may serve as a stimulus for future research on this topic. How parkour comes, where it is heading or what is involved in this activity, are some of the questions to be covered.

When a climber is in a mountain, alone, on the snow’s edge near to the peak that he wants to conquer; when the dawn is coming; in that moment the climber realizes how wonderful is the nature, how incredible is that world and he realizes that it is just a line which separates him from this feeling or the death. Over the edge there is just the void, a scary fall of hundred of metres.
With this idea of mountaineering this paper is claim to suggest that the sublime is a consequence of the approach of this activity to the environment, as a feeling that provides us a knowledge of the limitless and, most important, a knowledge of our human condition. In the mountaineering, as in other kind of physical, exploratory activities the sublime is possible due to the physical skill and the power of decision and adaptation to the hazards that could be in an extreme situation. And also this paper is claim to suggest how through this kind of activities the sublime is maintaining in confrontation with the western “sociedad del simulacro” and the idea of virtuality experience and over_safe experience.
