We used Hofstede’s (1980) cultural value dimension and Ajzen’s (1991) theory of planned behavior (TPB) as the theoretical framework. The TPB model allows prediction of behavior based on intentions. Based on the descriptive-explanatory and cross-sectional research designs, we chose161 fourth year students enrolled in the Entrepreneurship program of three universities in Region VII as survey respondents. We collected the data using a pre-tested structured survey questionnaire. Due to slight violations of normality, we utilized for the analyses of relationships the partial least squares structural equation modeling technique. Findings showed that the respondents have mean age of 20.23 and 72% are women. The results also revealed that female respondents have significantly higher mean scores for subjective norm ...

Due to slight violations of normality, we utilized for the analyses of relationships the partial least squares structural equation modeling technique. Findings showed that the respondents have mean age of 20.23 and 72% are women. The results also revealed that female respondents have significantly higher mean scores for subjective norm (SN) and entrepreneurial intention (EI) compared to the male respondents. Among the three antecedents of intention, only attitude toward entrepreneurship significantly predicts intention giving partial support to the TPB. The data did not find collectivism as moderator of the SN-EI relationship. Moreover, the results indicated that fostering a positive attitude toward entrepreneurship among undergraduate students is a very important focus of entrepreneurship education. We attempted in this study to expand the theory of planned behavior by adding the collectivism variable in the model.

Nurses play a vital role in this industry in giving patient care. The 35-40% attrition rate among nurses experienced by private hospitals at present threatens organizational sustainability. Extant literature mentions the influence of personality traits on stress and burnout among others as reasons of nurse turnover. This prompted the researchers to examine the personality traits and level of compassion fatigue among nurses of a tertiary level private hospital in Cebu City. In this study, burnout (BO) and secondary traumatic stress (STS) define compassion fatigue. This descriptive, correlational, and cross-sectional research surveyed 123 staff nurses assigned in the special care units. However, there were only 105 returned questionnaires with complete data. The data on personality traits were collected using the Big Five Personality Test scale (Socha, Cooper, & McCord, 2010). The ProQOL version 5 scale of Stamn (2010) was used to collect data on the level of BO and STS. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 25. Results revealed that respondents had average levels of the traits Openness, Extroversion and Neuroticism and high levels of the traits Conscientiousness and Agreeableness. Average levels of BO and STS were also noted. Moreover, results showed significant negative relationships between BO and Conscientiousness, Extroversion, Agreeableness and Neuroticism while the traits Conscientiousness, Agreeableness and Neuroticism had significant negative correlation with STS. Thus, the higher the levels of the Big 5 Personality traits, the lower is the BO and STS levels. It can be concluded that nurses with average to high levels of the traits Openness, Conscientiousness, Extroversion and Agreeableness can cope very well with compassion fatigue. Low level of Neuroticism trait is ideal in the healthcare industry. Although the study showed average BO and STS levels, it is prudent to keep this at low levels. Some of the identified interventions that need to be implemented to keep BO at low levels include the purchase of devices that decrease physical exertion in performing nursing tasks, automation of identified standard processes, conduct of multidisciplinary meetings and self-awareness, and effective communication trainings. To reduce STS levels further, the hospital may provide training for nurses to cope with death related grief, implement buddy system, and provide opportunities for cross-functional team bonding activities.

The paper employed a critical realist case study methodology on the creation of a joint-venture manufacturing company between University of San Carlos, a Catholic university in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines, and external business entrepreneurs. Findings reveal the importance of a conducive environment produced by the institutional entrepreneurship of top university administration combined with the inventiveness and zeal of a faculty researcher in enabling successful invention commercialization. It is recommended that future research look in greater comparative detail at related mechanisms supportive of academic entrepreneurship and the sustainability of such enterprises.

These were reared from 1.0 to 2.5 months in 10 to 40 m 3 (small) concrete tanks, in 240 m 3 (large) concrete nursery tanks with sandy bottom, in 10 m 3 hapa nets installed either in large nursery concrete tanks with sandy bottom or in 0.8 to 1.0 ha earthen ponds. The initial stocking density was 33-150/m 3. When the fingerlings reached 5 to 7 cm SL, these were harvested and stocked in cages. The wild fry were fed adult brine shrimps for the first few days and later, trash fish. Rearing water in small concrete tanks was changed daily while that in large nursery tanks and hapas was changed only when dissolved oxygen level was about 4 ppt or lower. Survival rates ranged from 3% to 64%. Although survival rates varied, rearing grouper fry in hapa nets installed in earthen ponds were found to be the most suitable for the commercial production of grouper fingerlings to a size suitable for stocking in cages. The large variation in survival rates is attributed mainly to the quality of wild fry bought from different fry dealers all over the country and the occurrence of diseases during the culture period. The problems encountered in the commercial production of fingerlings are discussed.
