Novel three-dimensional hierarchical α-calcium sulfate hemihydrate with a straw-sheaf morphology ... more Novel three-dimensional hierarchical α-calcium sulfate hemihydrate with a straw-sheaf morphology (3D α-HH straw-sheaves) are synthesized successfully in glycerin aqueous solution by a simple one-pot method, using as an efficient adsorbent for Pb2+ removal from water. The 3D straw-sheaf morphology, that closely depends on the glycerin/water volume ratio (VGly/VH2O), can be accurately fabricated only when VGly/VH2O is not lower than 3/1. 3D α-HH straw-sheaves are generated via multistep-splitting growth coupled with self-assembly. The obtained 3D α-HH straw-sheaves are further used as an adsorbent to remove Pb2+ from water, exhibiting excellent Pb2+ removal performance with an equilibrium adsorption capacity of 79.19 mgPbgα-HH-1 and removal efficiency of 98.98%, that both higher than those of plate- and columnar-like α-HH. Moreover, the experimental adsorption data for the 3D α-HH straw-sheaves is well fitted with pseudo-second-order kinetic model, and the adsorption isotherm is in good agreement with Langmuir model. The Pb2+ adsorption mechanism is thought to be a chemical adsorption process enforced by chemical bonding and ion exchange. This work demonstrates that 3D α-HH straw-sheaves are highly promising in removing Pb2+ from wastewater, thereby broadening the research field for the practical application of gypsum-based materials.

This study aimed to compare the effects of L-655,708 administered by single-dosing regimen versus multi-dosing regimen on spatial memory, signaling molecules, and brain functional connectivity. METHODS After comparing the maintenance time of the effective plasma concentration of L-655,708 between multi-dosing and single-dosing regimens, we further compared the effects of the administration of the two regimens at different phases (before-learning, during-learning, and before-probe) of the Morris water maze (MWM) test on the performance of learning and memory and the levels of signaling molecules related to learning and memory in hippocampal tissues. Functional connectivity analyses between hippocampal and cortical regions were performed to further clarify the effects of the multi-dosing regimen. RESULTS The multi-dosing regimen could maintain the effective plasma concentration of L-655,708 much longer than the single-dosing regimen. Only the multi-dosing regimen for L-655,708 administration during the learning period led to significant improvement in spatial memory in the MWM test and increases in levels of glutamate receptors and phosphorylated signaling molecules (p-PKAα, p-CaMKII, and p-CREB-1). Compared with the vehicle control, the multi-dosing regimen increased the functional connectivity of the left hippocampal CA1 with cingulate and motor cortices. CONCLUSIONS A multi-dosing regimen for L-655,708 administered during the learning period is an effective strategy to improve spatial memory, increase signaling molecule levels, and enhance the functional connectivity of the hippocampus.

We used cross-sectional data of 845 LBC under 3 years old from five counties in rural China in 2018. Social–emotional problems were assessed by the ages and stages questionnaires: social–emotional. Family structure, function, and child nurturing care practices were measured to explore their roles in potential pathways of parental migration affecting early social–emotional development. 36.4% of LBC were identified with social–emotional problems; the rate was higher among LBC with migrant parents than those with migrant fathers (39.9% vs. 30.5%, adjusted OR: 1.40 [95% CI 1.01, 1.93]). Results of structural equation modeling reveal that caregivers’ low education and depressive symptoms, poor migrant–caregiver communication, family poverty, and no assistant caregiving weakened home parenting environment, and then contributed to LBC’s social–emotional problems. LBC in early childhood may be at a high risk of social–emotional problems, which are primarily caused by the transition of family structure and function and consequently weakened home environment.

Abstract We are concerned with robust iterative solution methods for solving the Stokes optimal c... more Abstract We are concerned with robust iterative solution methods for solving the Stokes optimal control problems. Two efficient preconditioners are proposed for the discretized saddle point linear systems arising from the velocity tracking of the Stokes control problem. The proposed preconditioners are similar in structure to and can be viewed as modifications of the preconditioner in [Axelsson et al., Numer. Algorithms, 74(1):19–37, 2017], which are economic to implement in an inner-outer framework within Krylov acceleration. They can lead to similar tight and problem independent eigenvalue distribution results for the preconditioned matrices, which yield rates of convergence independent of both the regularization parameter and refinement level. Moreover, we also give inexact variants of the proposed preconditioners, which avoid the inner-outer implementations utilizing preconditioned GMRES methods as inner loops. Numerical experiments indicate that the proposed preconditioners demonstrate robust performance and comparable to some existing preconditioners when used to accelerate the Krylov subspace methods.

We theoretically study the squeezed probe light passing through a double electromagnetically indu... more We theoretically study the squeezed probe light passing through a double electromagnetically induced transparency (DEIT) system, in which a microwave field and two coupling lights drive a loop transition. It is shown that the output squeezing can be maintained in both two transparency windows of DEIT, and it can also be manipulated by the relative phase of the three driving fields. The influence of the intensity of applied fields and the optical depth of atoms on the squeezing is also investigated. This study offers possibilities to manipulate the squeezing propagation in atomic media by the phase of electromagnetic fields.

Soil column experiments involved a solution of manganese chloride in which the chloride ion was the chemical tracer. In the two column experiments, the breakthrough curve (BTC) for Clrevealed the average linear flow velocity (2.937 and 3.921 cm/h) and longitudinal dispersivity (8.52 and 40.09 cm) of the sediment. The BTC of Mn 2þ showed a significant delay compared to Cl-. The adsorptive equilibrium isotherm experiments showed that Ca 2þ was the main desorption cation in the cation exchange process. The nonlinear retardation factor R f (R fTM-1 ¼ 13.97, R fTS-1 ¼ 12.89) of Mn 2þ is derived from thermodynamic principles.

Herein, we develop a facile strategy to form a double-modified CdS@g-C 3 N 4 heterojunction through the simultaneous phosphorus (P) doping and defects creation in one-step process. Various characterization results confirmed the intimate heterojunction, P doped via PeN bond formation and abundant defects on the double-modified CdS@g-C 3 N 4. The optimized photocatalyst showed a remarkable H 2 evolution rate of 383.59 mmol/h, which was~52.05,~4.11, and 1.52 times higher than those of pristine g-C 3 N 4 , CdS, and unmodified CdS@g-C 3 N 4 respectively. The superior H 2 evolution performance can be attributed to the following factors: (1) P doping induced a mid-gap state, resulting in the improved ability to harvest visible light and prolong the lifetime of photogenerated electrons; (2) defects could narrow bandgap and trap electrons, accelerating the transfer of these electrons to H þ ; (3) core-shell nanostructures and intimate interfacial contact promote the separation and transfer of interface charges owing to improved charge transport pathways. This work highlights a feasible strategy for developing superior photocatalysts by heteroatom doping and defect engineering.

Three different feedstocks including corncobs, wheat straw and Miscanthus were pretreated by p-TsOH at a 70% (wt) concentration at 80C for 10 min for comparison. The results showed that p-TsOH pretreatment was highly effective in removing lignin and xylan, and it resulted in cellulose-rich water-insoluble solids (WIS) and spent liquor, primarily containing xylose and lignin. The produced WIS from corncobs, wheat straw and Miscanthus had rather high conversion rates of 100%, 93% and 87%, respectively, at a cellulase loading of 15 FPU/g glucan at 72 h. The high lignin yield of 80.76% was obtained by diluting the spent acid liquor to below the minimal hydrotrope concentration (MHC). This process promotes an innovative approach for biomass fractionation and full utilization of the components.

Patients and methods Limited stage small cell lung cancer (LS-SCLC) patients achieving a complete response (CR) or partial response (PR) were enrolled into this study between January 2010 and December 2016. We retrospectively evaluated the influencing factors for time to BM and overall survival (OS). Results A total of 153 patients were enrolled into this study. Sixty-eight developed BM during the follow-up period. For the whole cohort, the 1-and 2-year BM rates were 29.4 and 41.2%, respectively. Multivariate analysis showed that T stage (hazard ratio [HR] = 2.27, P = 0.024), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR; HR = 2.07, P = 0.029), time to thoracic radiotherapy (HR = 0.34, P = 0.002) and chemotherapy cycles (HR = 0.49, P = 0.036) were the independent influencing factors of time to BM. Only NLR (HR = 2.11, P = 0.005) and time to thoracic radiotherapy (HR = 1.95, P = 0.011) were independent prognostic factors of OS. Of the 68 patients developing BM, those with BM occurring as the first relapse (42/68) had better OS than the others (39.5 months vs 23.0 months, P = 0.016). Conclusion LS-SCLC patients without PCI had a high risk of BM. High T stage, high NLR, early thoracic radiotherapy and fewer chemotherapy cycles were the risk factors of BM. Further research is needed to confirm the results.

Electromagnetic (EM) field simulation plays a key role in the design of magnetic resonance imagin... more Electromagnetic (EM) field simulation plays a key role in the design of magnetic resonance imaging radio frequency (RF) coils. However, the values of the components in tuning and matching circuits often need to be iterated repeatedly in the conventional simulation method in order to achieve optimal scattering parameters. This leads to a time-consuming optimization to tune and match RF coils, particularly dual-tuned coils that are comprised of multiple lumped elements. A method combining EM field simulation and circuit simulation was employed in this paper, which can dramatically improve simulation efficiency for the optimization of the values of the lumped elements and corresponding EM field distribution. A systematical theoretical analysis of the co-simulation method was presented. To validate the accuracy and efficiency of the co-simulation method, a comparison study was conducted between the conventional simulation and the proposed co-simulation approaches.

Herein, we develop multifunctional nanotheranostic PB@Au core/satellite nanoparticles (CSNPs) based on prussian blue nanoparticles (PBNPs) and gold nanoparticles (AuNPs), which are two kinds of intrinsic theranostic nanomaterials, for magnetic resonance (MR)/computed tomography (CT) imaging and synergistic photothermal/radiosensitive therapy (PTT/RT). PBNPs as cores enable T1-/T2- weighted MR contrast and strong photothermal effect, while AuNPs as satellites offer CT enhancement and radiosensitization. As revealed by both MR and CT imaging, CSNPs realized efficient tumor localization by passively targeted accumulation after intravenous injection. In vivo studies showed that CSNPs resulted in synergistic PTT/RT action to achieve almost entirely suppression of tumor growth without observable recurrence. Moreover, no obvious sy...

The factors controlling the composition of phreatic water are investigated. Results show the TDS, concentrations of Na+, Cl- of phreatic water generally increase along the direction from SW to NE, the chemical types changes in the sequences of HCO3 -rarrHCO3 -+SO4 2-rarrSO4 2-rarrHCO3 -rarrSO4 2-+Cl-rarrCl-+SO4 2-. The factors controlling and affecting the chemical composition of phreatic water in Yinchuan plain are mainly geological and hydrogeological conditions, the composition of recharge water, the soluble salt content of soils, water-rock interaction, and concentration by evaporation. To improve the quality of phreatic water in Yinchuan Plain, the development intensity of shallow groundwater should be increased, so as to lower the level of groundwater further and quicken its circulation.

Characterizations of TEM, Raman spectra, XRD, XPS, BET and TG-DSC revealed that CNTs were homogenously coated with ultra-thin layers of MoS 2. It was demonstrated that the unique structure is attributed to the wetting and emulsification capacity of PEG400. The CNTs-MoS 2-carbon was used as counter electrodes (CEs) for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). Analyses of electrochemistry indicate that the CEs modified by CNTs-MoS 2-carbon have high activity and stability in the electro-reduction from I 3 À to I À due to the low charge transfer resistance. DSSCs based on CNTs-MoS 2-carbon CEs were demonstrated to have a power conversion efficiency of 7.23%, which is higher than Pt CEs (6.19%).

In this study, we further underlying the epigenetic mechanisms of CAFs feed the cancer cells and the molecular mediators involved in these processes. MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 cells were treated with CAFs culture conditioned medium, respectively. Cytokine antibody array, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, western blotting and immunofluorescence were used to identify the key chemokines. Chromatin immunoprecipitation and luciferase reporter assay were performed to explore the transactivation of target LncRNA by CAFs. A series of in vitro assays was performed with RNAi-mediated knockdown to elucidate the function of LncRNA. An orthotopic mouse model of MDA-MB-231 was conducted to confirm the mechanism in vivo. Here we reported that TGF-β1 was top one highest level of cytokine secreted by CAFs as revealed by cytokine antibody array. Paracrine TGF-β1 was essential for CAFs induced E...

For a chosen initial state, the exact solution of the master equation is found. Therefore, effect of the atomic damping on entanglement (purity loss), degree of entanglement by the negativity, mutual information and atomic coherence through the master equation are studied.

Regional case study is the core of LUCC research. Taking the Hotan river basin, an oasis area of the Tarim river origin basin, as an example, Supported by RS and GIS technology, this paper reconstructed LUCC patterns in three periods of 1960, 1990 and 2000, and analyzed their spatial-temporal changes from 1960 to 2000. Combination the method of landscape ecology, several landscape patch index were calculated for oasis land extension. The results are as follows: (1) the oasis transformation mainly occurs among farmland and construction land. (2) the changes of oasis spatial character become regular, the border near upstream basically unchanged, border of the both sides river near the downstream slightly expand outwards. (3) In the forty years, the patch shape index and fractal dimension are both decreased, land-use status of Hotan oasis appeared variation, the extension of the oasis area is mainly the result of the restrict water supply and economic development.
