This research assessed the Language use of Political Leaders of Pakistan during COVID-19 against ... more This research assessed the Language use of Political Leaders of Pakistan during COVID-19 against the corona virus spread. It further investigated the effect of political leaders' language on common people. Politicians issued numerous political statements regarding the prevention of the CORONA virus spread and these statements got good space in leading National and International English language newspapers. The people of Pakistan wanted to listen to the voice of public representatives on this important issue that badly hit their lives. A qualitative phenomenological research design was used. Data were analyzed through observation. Data collection source was 'The DAWN, The Diplomat, Al-Jazeera and The Tribune newspapers. Results were compiled, generating themes.Six themes developed from narratives regarding the prevention of the COVID virus disease. Results suggest that political leaders of Pakistan should follow the 'one vision

The current study has investigated students’ preferences to literary texts in an undergraduate li... more The current study has investigated students’ preferences to literary texts in an undergraduate literature course at a public sector university in Pakistan. Guided by reader-response theory, this study’s data was supplied by 52 participants. Firstly, anonymous and voluntary feedback was collected from 52 undergraduate students of English Literature. Secondly, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 15 participants. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings reveal that students’ personal life experiences play a significant role in determining their preference for novels in their curriculum. Most students based their preference of novels on their own moral code so much so that they disliked novels that did not fit their moral standards suggesting that they should be removed from the curriculum. These results are important for curriculum designers and researchers of literature.

The study has explored how students identify existentialist themes and how do they relate to identified themes in the play. Rosenblatt's (1938, 1994) reader response and Sartre's (1956) existential model have guided this study. The findings are based on data supplied by 15 participants through semi-structured interviews. The study has applied a qualitative mode of inquiry employing the Thematic Analysis method by Braun and Clarke (2006). The key arguments based on findings reveal that participants’ responses were affected by their social and educational background. It highlights that participants connected existentialist themes that were very close to their life experiences and observations. The third world countries are a mirror image of it and highlight their declining condition in the educational perspectives of female education. The twelve Psychosocial barriers are highlighted in this study. They are analyzed to know about their extent in female students in one of the Public sector universities of Sindh, Pakistan. The quantitative design was adopted, and a questionnaire was used as the instrument to measure percentages and frequencies. A five-point Likert Scale was selected for the process of data collection measurement from thirty female participants of the English department. The thirty female students represented four academic stages in a co-academic setting. After the analysis of data through SPSS software, the results affirmed that female students do face problems to pursue their higher education in the shape of psychological fears, uncomfortable...

Through close reading analysis method, the qualitative study intends to unfold different forms of gender discrimination and the response of women to such oppression. The study uncovers the fact that though Islam has assured the rights of women, but still Islamic world is juggling in gender politics. The findings of the study reveal that women, within the aforementioned novel, are represented as performing stereotypical traditional roles such as caretakers and mothers. They are subjected to different forms of gender subjugation as physical and psychological violence, sexual abuse, forceful marriages, preference to have sons, ill healthcare facilities, marginalization from education and limited mobility. It focuses on the potential reader response teachers at a public sector university, Pakistan and their questioning practices in classrooms based on Probst’s (1994) suggested model. Probst (1994) has given five model generic questions for reader response teachers. For this purpose a sample of three teachers of English Literature has been picked up through non probability purposive sampling method. Data is collected through recorded systematic class observation where focus was on the questions asked by the teachers. Substantial amount of literature related to reader response theory and its application in classroom is also discussed which supports the findings of this research. The current study has investigated the innovative ESL teaching practices like use of eresources i... more The current study has investigated the innovative ESL teaching practices like use of eresources in online English language teaching during COVID-19 pandemic in Sindh, Pakistan. It has also explored the challenges faced by ELT practitioners during the implementation of such practices. The findings are based on data supplied by 15 participants through semi-structured interviews. The participants were English language teachers at a private higher secondary school who were selected through volunteer sampling method. The study has applied qualitative mode of inquiry employing Thematic Analysis method, proposed by Braun and Clarke (2006). The key arguments based on findings of this study reveal that the ELT practitioners are using innovative techniques and making most of the e-resources to maximize the learning opportunities in the time of the pandemic. While implementing online teaching, teachers face several challenges such as inadequate technological facilities, digital literacy and learners' motivation and participation. These results are important for teachers, curriculum designers and researchers of language teaching as they bring some implications in the context of ELT.

She defenselessly bears without challenging because of her educational deprivation which never grants her courage to stand for her rights. While Mariam and Laila defend for their rights because of Laila's educational spirit that enables them to realize their worth and dignity. The thorough understanding of the text illustrates the positive role of education that strengthens women to raise their voice against established patriarchal system.
