The analysis utilised Hayakawa’s trichotomy of general semantics three sentence types, namely reports/facts, inferences, and judgements, to assess the technical aspects of the language employed in news reporting. A comprehensive search was conducted to gather news articles on Islam apostasy published in Harakahdaily and The Star over a five-year period from 2019 to 2023. The study found that Harakahdaily had more apostasy-related articles than The Star. Moreover, being an independent newspaper, Harakahdaily used more inference and judgement statements in its headlines, implying bias. Contributors to Harakahdaily’s stories, mainly Islamic scholars and Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) members, lack journalistic training. In contrast, The Star, a mainstream newspaper, had fewer such issues but should carefully select words to avoid misunderstandings. This study highlights how analysing news coverage of Islam apostasy using Hayakawa’s trichotomy reveals biases, stressing the need for journalists, especially those lacking training, to provide objective, unbiased information, promoting balanced reporting.

It is discovered that the religious dream imageries of the seven participants were explicit and implicit with specific forms of messages such as paradise and hell revealed through dream, reminder dreams, contemplate-like dreams, and ‘saviour’ dreams. Results also reveal that the 10 most frequent dream elements recounted by the seven participants were garment (robe), servant of God, turban, elderly person, imam (religious leader), lights, mosque, prayer mat, Qur’an, and sky. The results expose that the impacts of the religious dream imageries and dream elements to the participants were that they either seek for an answer, followed...

The study uses critical review of the literature for insights on the integrated marketing communication (IMC) as an example of marketing strategy and Islam as a representative of spiritual elements and ethics. The study discovers that IMC could be highly potential in creating quality relationship with the consumers when the consumers' religious values are emphasised. IMC is also in line with the Islamic marketing concept that focuses on the rhetoric of common good and prohibits organisations from abandoning the personal value of consumer. Notwithstanding the fact, the Muslims' perspective of an integrated approach in marketing comes together with the humans' duty as vicegerent of Allah SWT in order to sustain a good personality in this world and hereafter.

Among them are the challenges of understanding Islam as a religion, welfare and psychological pressure from their family, foster family and society as well as psychological pressure to adapt to the new religion (M.Y. The study discovers that 1) a majority of the headlines of the global terrorism articles were positively-framed, 2) a majority of the articles on global terrorism had all framing functions, 3) a majority of the articles on global terrorism were written by Utusan Malaysia journalists, and 4) a framing bias existed in the Utusan Malaysia's news reporting of global terrorism issues. Presenting headlines of global terrorism in a positive tone is a wise method for issues associated with the Muslims since the emphasis is on solving the problems through negotiations and discussions without harming the image of Islam. Utusan Malaysia had played informative and educative roles, and thus, the media, in general, need to continuously play these roles, while respecting the sensitivities of every religion in order to gain the world's peace and harmony.

Qualitative methods were employed, whereby IMC four-stage framework and seven dimensions of full range leadership theory served as the basis of this study. The results of this study show that a majority of the interviewees claimed that their institutions have reached stage 4 (strategic integration) of the IMC framework. Nevertheless, there were inconsistencies in the answers between the administrators and lecturers. The results also reveal that the important factors in developing and implementing a successful IMC plan in Malaysian HLIs are uniting functional operations by aligning the activities of the HLIs toward serving the customers, getting support from the top management of HLIs, studying their customers thoroughly, and utilising social networks to communicate with their current and prospective customers. Moreover, the leadership styles practised in the interviewees institutions expose that the dimension of intellectual stimulation was the most mentioned, followed by laissez-faire, inspirational motivation, and management-by-exception. The leaders of the selected Malaysian public HLIs showed a higher tendency of practising transformational leadership style compared to the leaders of the selected Malaysian private HLIs who showed the tendency of practising transactional leadership style. Thus, practising an appropriate leadership style is an important factor that influences the effectiveness of leaders in the Malaysian HLIs.

Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine the strategic processes of IMC in the Malaysian public institution of higher education (IHE) and its correlation with leadership in maintaining student relationship. Quantitative analysis was performed to observe the level of IMC implementation and leadership styles exhibited in the selected Malaysian IHE. The IMC four-stage framework and seven dimensions of full range leadership theory, which comprises of transformational, transactional, and laissez-faire leadership theory served as the basis of the study. The study found that the lecturers and administrative staffs of the Malaysian public university in Penang were adequately experienced in their job. They have also played their roles well by communicating with the students, and were thus respected, appreciated, and trusted by their students. Hence, they have created a strong emotional bond with the customer, and at the same time, maintained internal stakeholder relationships. Due to population growth and the increasing economic activities in Malaysia, more waste will be generated, and in the long run, if poorly managed will affect our environment, health, and economy. Thus, the media have a role as information transmitter and educator to the public; exposing and creating awareness among the public regarding environmental issues inclusive of waste control and management issues. This study reports on the findings of content analysis in the quantitative and qualitative aspects where news report and the way of news reporting on environmental, particularly waste issues were explored in two selected local English newspapers. Newspaper articles on the issue of environment which were published in the New Straits Times (NST) and The Sun (TS) from 2003 to 2007 were compiled and analyzed based on a coding protocol. Later, waste-related articles which were identified from the compilation of environmental articles were taken for in-depth analysis to determine the presence of Entman's four framing functions. Results show that the coverage of waste issues in the NST and TS mostly focused on Entman's framing functions of suggesting solutions and defining problems. Results also found that there is other applicable framing function, such as stating consequences, as well as focusing on the negative tone of frame. Therefore, the media were to some extent performing the role of information transmitter and educator to the public by framing problem definitions, cause diagnoses, moral judgments, solution suggestions and consequence statements with regards to waste issues.

Due to population growth, improvements in standards of living and changing lifestyles of the people, more wastes will be generated. Hence, members of the public need to be informed, educated, acknowledged and reminded of their role to reduce wastes and to overcome waste problems. The media have a role as information transmitter and educator to the public; exposing and creating awareness among the public regarding environmental issues inclusive of waste control and management issues. This paper reports parts of a content analysis study which examined how environmental issues were covered and how waste issues were framed in selected Malaysian English-language newspapers. Articles regarding environmental issues published from January 2003 to December 2007 in The Sun and New Straits Times were analyzed. The study found 7,962 articles on environmental issues. Waste issues made up 7.7% of this coverage. For this paper, the 616 articles on waste issues were further examined to determine the presence of Entman's (1993) four framing functions: to define problems, to diagnose causes, to make moral judgments, and to suggest solutions. Most prominent framing function was suggestion of solutions (47.1%) followed by problem definition (38%). Moral evaluations had the least presence with only 12.2%. The analysis also found another framing function: stating consequences in 34.9% of all waste articles. The paper concludes that media framing of waste issues in selected Malaysian newspapers focused on defining problems, stating consequences as well as suggesting solutions. Thus, media were to some extent performing the role of information transmitter and educator to the public.
