The chemical constituents of the lignocellulosic materials are important in allowing particles to achieve self bonding. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of starch content on the physical and mechanical properties, as well as some biodegradation activities including termite decay and soil burial decay of the particleboard without synthetic adhesive. Internal bonding strength, modulus of rupture, thickness swelling, and soil burial were performed according to British Standard and European Standard. The termite decay on specimen was evaluated with Microtermes gilvus. Addition of starch into specimens resulted in adverse effect on thickness swelling but improved mechanical properties of the samples. However, removing starch containing in particles showed insignificant effect on mechanical properties of the specimens. Weight loss of specimens exposed to termites was not affected by starch content statistically. However, soil buried test samples had significant weight loss.

The larvae of M. mindeni exhibit three larval stages. Larvae complete their first instar development in fourth larval instars and major presoldiers, whereas the second and third instars develop entirely in major soldiers' head ...

Laboratory evaluation indicated that there was minimal difference between the performance of LPOS baits and ...

Nymphal development and percentage number of nymphs achieving adulthood were significantly affected by food or water deprivation, or both together, in all four different treatment regimes (food only, water only, no food and water, with food and water). Fecundity of female cockroaches was ...

These strains were assayed using a lethal time assay at lOx susceptible LC95 concentrations of propoxur (1.10. MU. g/cm2), chlorpyrifos (18.40. MU. g/cm2), permethrin (1.70. MU. g/cm2) and deltamethrin (0.55. MU. g/cm2) using a surface-contact exposure method with reference to the susceptible ICI strain. Results indicated that propoxur and ...
