Unlike Gregory of Nazianzus after him, though, we read that Basil did not write an explicit affirmation on the Paraclete’s divinity and consubstantiality with the Father and the Son. We find, of course, many of Basil’s assertions where he firmly points out that the Holy Spirit is God. These are demonstrated in his concept of isotimia (equality of worship and honor) and the Holy Spirit’s divine action in the history of salvation. Given this, we may say that Basil clearly affirms faith in the full divinity of the Holy Spirit using equivalent expressions.

It does this by revisiting what we may very well consider as its indispensable basis, namely, the liturgical movement. From this, the book leads us to an exacting emphasis on the reform’s historicity, meaning to say, its being in the past. This, as Grillo stresses meticulously, implies that the reform ought to be understood in the proper ecclesial context of Vatican II and the immediate events that happened before it. Anyone who sincerely wishes to grasp the spirit of the reform necessarily has to understand what the Council fathers had to face: the historical and theological challenges of their time.

The data he gathers are valuable for a constructive and focused inquiry on the subject. At the same time, he does not fail to present some fundamental information that are useful to students who are engaging on a more basic investigation, especially in the field of Old Testament exegesis.

It has been venerated by generations of its local community since the sixteenth century. Unfortunately, the number of its devotees has drastically diminished for the past decades. There is a considerable risk of completely forgetting the prodigious graces it has favored on many believers. Now more than ever, there is an extreme necessity for a renewed consciousness on the significance of the image in the evangelization of the vicinity of the Shrine. How can this be done? In what aspects can both pastors and historians reassert the importance of the Blessed Mother in the life of the locals in Ermita through the unrelenting presence of this Marian image? This research strives to answer these questions by assessing some of the literary sources readily available in the Shrine itself.
