Complex Adaptive Systems are characterized by the non-linear behavior of their agents, and the continuous interactions of these agents with the external environment to adapt, and to achieve the desired goals of the system. The main theme of this paper is to show the relationship between three main domains; Systems Thinking, Complex Adaptive Systems and Strategy as Practice.
Systems Thinking is of importance to organisations, helping them to understand Complex Adaptive Systems, and thus, propose better understanding for problematic situations and messes. This is achieved by viewing the system holistically, being able to understand the behavior of the systems’ agents and evaluate them. Theorists and scholar synthesis have been deployed to prove the relationship between Systems Thinking and Complex Adaptive Systems, and reached an approach to link them to the Strategy as Practice domain. During the appraisal and contrasting process of the authors’ views, learning process and knowledge transfer were found to be the indirect links connecting the three domains
