Phenomenologically, it seems as though ‘I’ am the cause of my decisions. This is the catalyst for my position that agency is the most fundamental aspect of personal identity.
I do not attempt to argue that alternative accounts are nonsensical or false outright, but rather that their benefits do not outweigh their costs. My own account is not without its own problems. Because the strength of a philosophical position is in how well it responds to objections, I introduce and address the most significant concession that my position forces me to make. If my account has the least significant cost and the most substantial benefit, then it ought to be abductively presumed.

The United States Constitution Preamble, Article II, Article III, and Article VI lay out the obligation of the United States Federal Government to uphold treaties as the supreme law of the land. Numerous treaties in force obligate the United States to mitigate certain international conflicts under specific circumstances. The Supreme Court has also clarified and differentiated the legally binding nature of treaties on domestic and international policies.
I do not attempt to advocate what ought to be the case or what the ideal position regarding mitigation of international conflict would be. My intent is to merely clarify what is currently the case. Understanding the status quo is essential to meaningful debate and reform in the future.

Phenomenologically, it seems as though ‘I’ am the cause of my decisions. This is the catalyst for my position that personal identity is synonymous with free will agency.
I come to this conclusion via negativa by addressing why alternative identity accounts fail. Then I attempt to establish a class nominalist account of what identity is. Finally, I introduce propositional, predicate, and abductive logical proofs to substantiate my position.
