Conventional corrective feedback has been widely practiced but has been said to be tedious, stres... more Conventional corrective feedback has been widely practiced but has been said to be tedious, stressful and time consuming. As such, the focus of this study is to investigate the use of an alternative method to giving corrective feedback namely, an online corrective feedback through e-mail. In order to examine if this innovative form of corrective feedback can be applied to the teaching and learning of academic writing, an experimental design was used with a control group and an experimental group of L1 Malay learners who were pursuing an academic writing course at the tertiary level. Interviews were also conducted on selected individuals to determine whether the use of online corrective feedback was practical in assisting learners improve their writing from the first draft to the final product. The statistical analysis applied to this research indicated that online corrective feedback may be an effective way to improve writing skills of learners and save time. Thus, the results showed that online corrective feedback should be potentially useful when integrated into the teaching and learning of academic writing.

Different techniques have been adopted by second language learners in order to learn vocabulary. This paper investigated whether the technique of using computer as a tool assist the learning of vocabulary among second language learners in a suburban secondary school in Malaysia. The method involved pre-test and post-test for both experimental and control group of second language learners. Findings suggested that the experimental group showed great result in learning vocabulary using computer.

It cannot be disputed that the internet has been a boon in the teaching and learning environment.... more It cannot be disputed that the internet has been a boon in the teaching and learning environment. As such, the focus of this study investigated the efficiency of using online corrective feedback (via e-mail) for academic writing classrooms compared to conventional corrective feedback methods. In order to examine if this innovative form of corrective feedback can be introduced into the ESL classroom, an experimental design was selected to compare a control and an experimental group of undergraduates pursuing the English for Academic Purposes course. A survey was carried out to determine how feasible the use of online corrective feedback is when utilised to aid students improve from the first draft to second draft of their writing. Analysis of data using statistical SPSS tools indicated that online corrective feedback saved time and improved participants' writing skills. The results of the study should help in determining the practicality of this form of online corrective feedback to be integrated into the academic writing classroom.
