After the computation of the machine main dimensions using an analytical algorithm, a Hooke-Jeeves optimisation procedure was implemented in order to obtain the optimal geometry of the PMCPSG. The electromagnetic field and static performances are studied, based on three-dimensional finite element analysis. A prototype of the PMCPSG is tested on a test bench for resistive and inductive loads.

The aim of this study is to develop and prove the functionality of a two rotors counter rotating permanent magnet generator by comparative results between the finite element field analyses and experimentally obtained.

Connected directly to the turbine axis, this type of electrical machine contribute to low price energy (the energy loss is diminished through the conversion, the turbine performance is increased) and to the reduction of the noise – this would be a very important aspect in case the turbine is placed nearby the localities. The paper presents the analysis of the magnetic field, using a 3D finite element based software, in a claw-pole permanent magnet synchronous machine for small ratings, direct-driven wind power applications. Airgap magnetic field density distribution and harmonic content will be computed. A study on the influence of the axial length and armature material on the magnetic flux density in the machine will be presented. Figure 1. The permanent magnet claw-pole generator, due to its large number of poles, simple and reliable construction, is a competitive variant for a direct driven generator in a wind mill at small and medium power. Such a sample generator is analyzed here based on magnetic field calculations and respectively tests. In the paper a new method to identify the generator parameters based on load characteristics is introduced. Applied on the sample generator designed, constructed and tested the identification procedure proves its accuracy and viability. Index Terms—permanent magnet claw pole synchronous generator, design, 3D magnetic field analysis, experimental analysis.

The paper details the fundamental steps when developing such an electrical machine, and validates the structure using co-simulation procedures, coupling finite element analysis software (Cedrat Flux2D) with software used to implement the controller (Matlab/Simulink). As the advantages of the SRM are already known, the torque ripples are its main disadvantages. These are reduced as much as possible using a dedicated control strategy, the torque sharing functions (TSF). The solution offered by the paper highlights the possibility of using a cheap, reliable and robust electrical machine for propulsion unit.

There are two main reasons for this trend: the reduction of the fuel consumption and the increase of the travel comfort. In this study we consider the approaches of electromagnetic design of a special topology of permanent synchronous machine (radial flux machine with outer rotor) suited for automotive applications. The study design requires some analytical analysis, followed by a numerical one in order to attain the performances of the proposed machine in all three cases (starter-alternator-booster). A thermal analysis is required in order to determine the thermal requirements for the automotive applications

The electrical machines will be analyzed in order to assure the most suited scooter propulsion. The variety of topology is basically obtained through specific winding configuration and poles/slots ratio. The design results are validated numerically through finite element method. A skewed topology proves the reduction of torque ripples. Also, in order to improve the energetic performances of the studied machines, a unity power-factor control strategy is employed.

The renewable energy sector emerged, providing an alternative to conventional energies; amongst them the wind and solar energies became extremely popular in the last decades, supplying important parts of the total energy required in countries like Germany or the United States of America. Besides these, the wave energy sector represents a huge, yet unexploited domain, which could prove to be a long time solution for the forthcoming energy shortages.

Graduates using virtual laboratories will be better trained when they enter the job market. In the paper a laboratory work will be presented having two components: a simulation and an experimental module. Both can be used for the preparation of a real lab and for accessing the real-world experiments. The virtual lab modules can also allow multiple students to remote access the experiments, the multicast data transfer mechanisms and arbitration mechanisms.
