As the numerous studies made at an international level in this area, the studies from Romania have emphasized especially the fact that, in front of a stressful event, people with a high level of religiosity adopt in bigger proportion strategies of religious coping, for reducing the stress, like the pray and redefining our own values. In a society opened to different cultural and religious offers, as it is the pluralist nowadays society, we consider it is necessary to have a deepening of the relation between religious experience, the world of values and the way of acting, especially in the case of younger generations. KEY WORDS: religiosity, religious coping, mental health

Using the perspective of health psychology, the present paper highlights subjective (emotional) well-being is a dynamic construct, resulting from the interaction between internal, individual factors (including how individuals perceive and interpret the world) and the social context in which individuals live and act. Consequently, the way in which the individual adapts to new events and the dimensions of the quality of life depend on a number of factors, such as: cognitive processes, the individual' s temperament and personality, personal values and goals, including spiritual values and involvement in activities that give meaning to life, as well as factors related to the social and cultural context in which the individual lives, the social roles he or she fills, the relationships and social support available to him or her, factors whose influence we will examine in this study.

Similarly, it provides insights on their level of contentment with their own lives. In this particular context, an array of resources which would allow them to cope with new situations that are inevitably caused by their development, becomes crucial. This current research analyses the extent to which attitudes of self-efficacy and optimism influence teenagers’ thoughts and coping methods with the unpredicted and stressful events that life can bring to their daily routine (Jerusalem & Mittag, 1995). In order to get an understanding in depth of the research topic, a sample of 525 Romanian students including 186 boys (35,4%) and 339 girls (64,6%) aged between 15 to 18 years old (average age = 16; SD = 1,04) were selected for the purpose of this study. The researcher’s hypothesis was based on the assumption that participants who demonstrate hig...
