Pianist and educator, Dr. Abigail Mace, has performed in Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, across the United States, and live on Wisconsin Public Radio. Mace has given masterclasses in piano and guest lectures at Lawrence Conservatory, Interlochen Center for the Arts, Bowling Green State University, and the University of Nebraska at Omaha, among others.
As a recipient of the 2010-2011 Netherland-America Foundation Fulbright Fellowship, Mace studied early music (harpsichord) at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. Her experiences in Europe included solo and collaborative performances in The Netherlands, Berlin, Germany, and Bologna, Italy, and at the US Ambassador's Residence in The Hague. At the Royal Conservatory, Mace studied under the guidance of internationally esteemed performers including Patrick Ayrton, Michael Chance, Jill Feldman, Wilbert Hazelzet, Barthold Kuijken, and Jacques Ogg.
Dr. Mace has had the privilege of performing in master classes for Emanuel Ax, Angela Hewitt, Ian Hobson, Gilbert Kalish, Ruth Laredo, Pamela Mia Paul, and William Wolfram. On historical keyboards, Mace has performed for Malcolm Bilson, David Breitman, Olivier Fortin, Arthur Haas, Ton Koopman, Charlotte Nediger, Jacques Ogg, and Andrew Willis.
Mace earned the M.M. and D.M.A. degrees in Piano Performance from The University of Texas at Austin, where her principal teacher was Nancy Garrett and her dissertation adviser was Guido Olivieri. Mace's lecture recital, "From Venice to Weimar: Italian Inspiration in the Keyboard Toccatas of J. S. Bach, BWV 910-916," received the 2011-2012 Outstanding Doctor of Musical Arts Lecture Recital award. Dr. Mace earned the B. Mus. in Piano Performance, summa cum laude with honors, from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.
