O presente artigo caracteriza-se como uma proposta de pesquisa para analisar a dinâmica de formaç... more O presente artigo caracteriza-se como uma proposta de pesquisa para analisar a dinâmica de formação e implementação inovadora de um Arranjo Produtivo Local (APL) de Turismo na cidade de Quatro Barras/PR, na Região Metropolitana de Curitiba, pela via institucionalista, tendo como objetivo identificar as ações sociais estratégicas necessárias para viabilizar o desenvolvimento econômico e social de um polo de turismo na região, bem como identificar as dificuldades encontradas pelos agentes indutores no estabelecimento de relações cooperativas entre as empresas do arranjo, auxiliando-os a superá-las. Assim, pretende-se contribuir para desenvolver os mecanismos de cooperação interorganizacional com base em modelos de implementação institucionalizados em outras regiões do Paraná, bem como disseminar práticas que estimulem ações de desenvolvimento regional no novo APL. O método a ser utilizado prevê a pesquisa-ação para realizar uma análise institucional mediante entrevistas semiestruturadas com os principais atores envolvidos na implementação, diagnóstico sobre a situação socioeconômica da região de Quatro Barras, identificação dos pilares institucionais de modo a adequar as ações de implementação à realidade local e avaliar os resultados obtidos no processo de formação do APL, confrontando com os pressupostos da teoria institucional e da teoria de redes.

Este artigo tem como objetivo destacar a importância que a estratégia tecnológica pos-sui para o ... more Este artigo tem como objetivo destacar a importância que a estratégia tecnológica pos-sui para o sucesso e permanência de empresas que se encontrem em seus estágios iniciais de formação. As organizações atuais são afetadas pelas mudanças do mercado consumidor e pelo surgimento de novas tecnologias, que exigem das empresas novas estratégias tecnológicas que as permitam sobreviver e permanecer no mercado. Estas mudanças são ainda mais sentidas pelos empreendimentos que se encontram em seus estágios iniciais de vida, e este artigo chama a atenção dos executivos e corpo dirigen-te das empresas para a importância da elaboração de uma estratégia tecnológica. Co-mo novidade, o artigo propõe um avanço ao ciclo adaptativo do negócio ao contexto, estendendo as análises para o campo da estratégia tecnológica.

Purpose: The present research seeks to understand to what extent companies in emerging countries,... more Purpose: The present research seeks to understand to what extent companies in emerging countries, specifically, Brazilian, adopt dominant management practices, the so-called Euro-American practices, possess their one, or show a syncretism between the two. Methods: Mixed research. One phase was to collect data using a survey about cultural dimensions adopted from GLOBE (House 1998) management practices and also from Brazilian academy. Another was to collect data through interviews, which were analyzed in parallel. Results: Of the seven dominant cultural dimensions, indigenous practices influenced two. Another three were influenced by dominant management practices. Two of the local dimensions, even with internationalization, merged practices with Brazilian cultural traits. Even so, the practices derived from Jeitinho diminished relative to the international relations and experience of managers. Conclusions: The paper shows the existence of powerful Brazilian Indigenous Managerial Practices such as personalism and formalism. These practices have great influence on international business negotiations. On the other hand, it also shows that there are still dominant managerial practices specially in the case of more internationalized Brazilian managers.

This article"s objective is to demonstrate how international activity and the international busin... more This article"s objective is to demonstrate how international activity and the international business environment significantly influence an organization"s strategic practices; specifically as to its management, institutional policies, interorganizational relationships, and organizational structure. In order to discuss this influence, our article presents a brief review of the internationalization process, the international business environment, the international convergence of management practices, and the strategic process as viewed from the perspective of strategic practices resulting from internationalization. Empirical studies of international business show that international activity inserts an organization and its managers into the competitive international environment, which influences the decisions and practices managers make towards developing and maintaining competitive advantages. Through a case study of an agro-industrial cooperative in the Brazilian state of Parana, we were able to perceive how international activity and the international business environment significantly influence the cooperative"s strategic process and practices. The case study was of a qualitative and descriptive nature, cross-sectional with longitudinal evaluation, and used content analysis for scrutinizing the data obtained from documents and interviews. The data showed that practices generated by internationalization led to their incorporation throughout the organization, including: negotiation and viability studies for new products; acquisition of units in other states and countries for gains in scale; international quality certification (ISO 9000 and Global Map); redesign of the supply chain between the cooperative and its associates; management systems and management reports; strategic planning based upon indicators; reunions, activities, and training with employees and partners; partnerships with institutions in order to develop a Brazilian model for Global Map certification. As such, this study corroborates the theoretical proposal that international activity influences an organization"s management practices, whether they are directly linked to international activities or not.
