Besides being able to generate up to 80% of the economic growth, they also provide jobs and make up the majority of businesses that operate around the world. Despite the vital importance of this area, very few studies have been done to look at the relationships between entrepreneurial competencies, organizational culture and dynamic capabilities, and SMEs business performance, particularly in Malaysia. Therefore, this study focused primarily on testing the possibility of organizational culture as a moderating variable and dynamic capabilities as a mediating variable in the relationships between entrepreneurial competencies and SMEs business performance. Based on the literature, six dimensions of entrepreneurial competencies, namely opportunity, relationship, conceptual, organizing, strategic, and commitment; and unidimensional constructs of organizational culture and dynamic capabilities were selected, and 18 direct and indirect hypotheses were developed. Instrument tools were based on scales previously established for measuring entrepreneurial competencies, organizational culture, dynamic capabilities, and also business performance. A total of 231 usable responses were collected through a mail questionnaire survey, and multiple regression analysis was employed to analyse the data. The empirical findings showed that there are significant relationships between opportunity, organizing and strategic competencies, and SMEs business performance. Dynamic capabilities was found to mediate the relationship between entrepreneurial competencies (strategic competencies only) and SMEs business performance. However, organizational culture did not act as a moderator in the relationship between entrepreneurial competencies and SMEs business performance. The research framework of this study contributes to the existing body of knowledge of the Malaysian SMEs and entrepreneurship literature. The theoretical contributions and practical implications are also significant findings for SMEs and entrepreneurial development in Malaysia. Finally, some limitations are also acknowledged and future research directions are included.

All variables are measured from developed instrument using 5-point interval scale: professional attraction (6 items) and entrepreneurial capacity (5 items) as the exogenous variable, while entrepreneurial experience 3 items) and entrepreneurial intention (6 items) as endogenous variables. Questionnaires were distributed to 129 students, based on random sampling method selected from various races and genders, for the purpose of data collection. The data was analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The result shows that the goodness of fit indices of structural equation model are achieved at GFI=0.951, P-value=0.249, RMSEA=0.036 and ratio (cmin/df) =1.163. The finding supports three significant direct effects in the revised model, thus supporting the hypotheses regarding professional attraction is positively related to entrepreneurial intention (β=0.648, CR=2.324, p<0.05), professional attraction is positively related to entrepreneurial experience (β=0.407, CR=2.270, p<0.05), and entrepreneurial capacity is positively related to entrepreneurial experience (β=0.597, CR=2.245, p<0.05). The structural model explains 93.1 percent variance in entrepreneurial intention. The result is discussed in the perspective of technical students' intentions toward entrepreneurship.

The instrument is validated using exploratory factor analysis (EFA) resulting in three similar components as the exogenous. The data was then analysed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The result shows that the goodness of fit indices of structural equation model are achieved at GFI=0.915, P-value=0.087, RMSEA=0.057 and ratio (cmin/df) =1.316. The finding supports one significant direct effect in the revised model, thus supporting the hypothesis regarding store loyalty is positively related to purchase intention (β=0.961, CR=3.578, p<0.001). The structural model explains 80.7 per cent variance in purchase intention. The result is discussed in the perspective of consumers' loyalty towards purchase intention.
