Based on detailed case studies of eight selected healthcare facilities developed at different times in India, this research traces the evolution of hospital designs in a specific geographic context through the lens of adoption of building environmental systems over the internal shell and external skins of healthcare buildings in India. By documenting and analyzing changes in building designs over time, the research develops a comparative understanding of trends of adoption of environmental technologies and their impacts on building form and performance

I hope you will understand the english translation, and I shall be happy if a modified writing with more anglicisms is proposed. REPORT OF ACTIVITY The first months of 2010 has been still marked by dissensions within the council about the project “Terminal Neige Palace”. It was difficult to manage an association whose members had decided not to act against this project, and have a majority in the council that, in a private capacity, act against this project. (...)

Inasmuch as the treatment of choice, whether conservative or surgery, and insofar as the therapeutic results may be determined by the extent of injury, it is important to have access to quantitative information on the functional properties of the involved ligaments at the time of the initial diagnostic studies. This can be obtained by measuring the strain on the anterior talofibular (tf) and calcaneofibular (cf) ligaments as a function of pressure applied to the distal tibia. Any device that ensures that the externally applied pressure is proportionally carried through to the ligaments can be used for this purpose. The results of 25 quantitative stress examinations using a Telos stress device are compared with arthrography findings and findings at surgery. Stress examination correlates well with both arthrographic and operative findings. The method is also useful for the evaluation of chronic ankle instability, follow-up examinations, and for the detection of vestiges of previous trauma of the contralateral ankle. The procedure is straightforward and noninvasive and can be performed within 15 minutes.

The functional quality of their an terior talofibular (TF) and calcaneofibular (CF) ligaments was tested by stress examination, using a commercially available stress device, and was compared with the results of stress examination, arthrography, and sur gery at the time of injury. Surgically treated patients showed a 70% to 100% recovery of the functional properties of the lateral ankle ligaments on comparison with the contralateral, unin jured ankle. Of the six patients treated conservatively With elastic bandages and rest, only one had regained normal function, whereas the others showed minimal or no improvement. Isolated lesions of the anterior TF ligaments, when treated conservatively, may have only a slightly better prognosis than a combined lesion of both anterior TF and CF ligaments in the athletic pop ulation.

The sooner treatment begins, the better the ultimate outcome for the patient. Generally the initial treatment is handled by paramedical personnel arriving at the site of the accident with an ambulance. There is evidence to show that if the expertise of the on-site paramedic team can be supported by immediate and continuous access to and communication with the expert medical team at the hospital, patient outcomes can be improved. After care also influences the ultimate recovery of the patient. After-treatment follow up often occurs in-hospital in spite of the fact that care at home can offer more advantages and can accelerate recovery. Based on emerging and future wireless communication technologies, in a previous paper [1] we presented an initial vision of two future healthcare settings, supported by applications which we call Virtual Trauma Team and Virtual Homecare Team. The Virtual Trauma Team applicatio...

In previous papers [1, 2] we presented a vision of two future healthcare applications which we call Virtual Trauma Team and Virtual Homecare Team. These are two instances of the wider concept of Virtual Health Care Teams. These applications are based on emerging and future wireless communication technologies. The technical research required to realise the vision of Virtual Health Care Teams (VHCTs) involves a number of areas including wireless transmission systems supporting broadband access, vehicle-based (fast roaming) networks (VANs), Body Area Networks (BANs), Personal Area Networks (PANs) and ambient intelligent environments, with ad hoc networking enabling communication between (roaming) professionals, clients and patients. In our vision of future delivery of healthcare by VHCTs we anticipate ubiquitous use of BANs by citizens in general an...
