_7:56 pm_[durisiema] idea!!! (about yruu time) hm... maybe we do a house after church and switch who's house it is! then not all the stress is on one person all the time. we could have a parent drive the group (or two parents if need be) to their house, and after, get the kids (us) back to a meeting point before they (us) need to get home. if a teen is busy or has work to do they could just skip out, we could bring our own snacks to the house, we could work and play... i think its flexible enough to work... and we could arange who and when... and i think the parents will/do trust the other parents (or they should) and if they aren't the kid could skip that house! and it could even happen on saterday sometimes, if need be...ok, all out of ideas, WHAT DO YOU THINK? _9:13 pm_[girl_who_is1337] READ THIS E-MAIL This is the e-mail I sent 'round -I don't remember if I sent this out before, but I'm sending it out anyways. We need someone (preferably an advisor or someone) to moderate our section of the FDYRUU forums, located here - http://fdyruu.org/forumsThe moderating job wouldn't be very hard, you'd just have to e-mail Kamex about your duties, and he'd explain them. His e-mail is "kamex@theelectricuniverse.com".If anyone is interested in the job, send an e-mail 'round to everyone.Love,Vic Current Mood: cheerful(Paint the walls green)

_8:41 pm_[girl_who_is1337] The ARTICLE - If you are on, reply NOW PLEASEPLEASEPLEASEDEADLINETODAYPLEASE Alright, everybody, the deadline is today and this is what we have - A Note from YRUUWritten by Victoria Woodard Hello, everyone. We are the youth of your church – the Young Religious Unitarian Universalists. We inhabit the small dome during most services. We’ll be trying to put something in the Domelight every month, and this is our debut! Yay! First off, we’d like to thank y’all so much for coming to the Mother’s Day picnic. It was a lot of fun, and we raised a lot of money that will be greatly appreciated for youth funding. You all rock a lot, and I hope you enjoyed the food and the company. Next off, we figured we might tell everyone what it is that we do over in that mysterious youth room. We generally start off with check-in where we talk about the stuff that’s happened to us since our last meeting, and then proceed to discuss whatever matter needs discussing. Sometimes it’s an upcoming youth gathering, sometimes it’s a political issue, sometimes it’s a major current event… the topic varies with the need. As I can’t take up too much room here, I’ll close with some words about our intents for the future. We hope to include ourselves in more activities at the church in the near future, and we intend on doing a community service project soon. This coming year will be an interesting and busy one for our youth group, and we look forward to keeping you posted.Have a wonderful month,The YRUU YouthPLEASE respond with feedback or it goes to Martha as is. _10:27 pm_[girl_who_is1337] We need to talk about YRUU's time. They are probably going to move it, and we need to talk about when. One idea pitched were after service 12-3 twice a month. Personally I don't like the idea of only meeting twice a month but it's something I could live with...are there any other suggestions out there? And the weekday nights idea was shot down by parents... same with Sunday night. Please comment with suggestions, darlings.-Vic Current Mood: stressed(1 painter |Paint the walls green)

_2:52 pm_[girl_who_is1337] LepreCON Update and Church update. CONFRIDAYWe left from our church around 9:15, and got to Clearwater around 10:00. We thought this was too early to arrive, so we decided to go to Super!Target. Upon entering the Super!Target, we made an unpleasant discovery - Super!Target closes at ten! WTF?!?! It's a Super!Target! It should be open 24/7!Well, after they told us to leave and the lights went out, we exited through the entrance doors (heh - breaking rules. Woo. Wild people are we) and crossed the parking lot to Borders. We chilled there for a while, then left to go to the church around 10:45. When we got there, we were assigned into our touch groups and chilled. Not much happened the rest of the night, other than opening circle and touch group games, and I didn't sleep at all - I was up late talking to Kamex (Jason).SATURDAYSaturday was fun... morning workshops were Irish Folklore, Irish Singing, and Subversion (whatever that is). What all workshops did everyone attend? The afternoon workshops were after lunch, but I don't know what they were since I didn't attend one. I slept some more after that, then dinner. Worship was fun, and I'm not just saying that because I helped plan it. Everyone filed in singing the "Come, come, wherever you are" chant and getting a piece of paper at the door. Everyone sat in the pews, and a thing was read. Then everyone wrote a blessing for luck onto their paper, and they were collected. Then came a hymn, which I PLAYED ON THE PIANO! Go me! I messed up some, though... ::embarrassed:: After the hymn was a closing and a benediction, then everyone left, taking a random person's blessing from the basket. It was cool. Then came Coffee House - I was the first person to sign up, and for a long time I was the only person on the list. Then Liz and Graham signed up to play a game with everyone in the audience - Benches. It was lossa fun. Then came Janice who read poems, Mike doing some jokes, Dan and Jessie swing-dancing, and then Deiffen Deiken Animal Attack. DDAA is a spoon-core band (don't ask me what that means... I dunno) using serving utensils and household objects like chairs. Then two of the members of DDAA went "solo" (think Ono and Lennon) and performed a really long poem-song thing. It was most entertaining. Then... WINK! We played Wink on the field... in 40 degree weather... on wet grass. Once your feet and hands numbed, you didn't notice the cold or the wet. Wink ended at 2:30 with only 9 hardcore players. We all went to sleep last night... ;)SUNDAYCleanup day went as usual, everyone dragging around picking up things. Closing circle was nice... it was warm on the field and the yarn is emerald green. Much hugging ensued, and we went straight to the church (no Steak-and-Shake for us... heh heh) and went to YRUU. We talked about Palm Sunday, and we played with Katie's chicken. ^_^CHURCHWe talked about Palm Sunday and Jesus and stuff, and we played with Katie's chicken. We had two new boys visiting our church today, Bernie and one other whose name I can't remember. We played Steal the Bacon, and that was about it.Love,ViconMarch 20 Current Mood: tired(Paint the walls green)

_10:07 am_[andy_longwood] It occurs to me that some of the people who check this community may not have been at church last week to hear our post-cleanup plan. I (Kate) am planning on going to the Rennaisance Festival after cleanup, and if anybody wants to go with me, that would be marvellous fun. I'm pretty sure Liz and Vic are going to go. Who else would like to come? It will be fun! (1 painter |Paint the walls green)

_2:03 pm_[girl_who_is1337] CALENDARMarch 6 - "Family Stories" - When family and social discord disrupts life, it is more than a personal or social problem; it is a religious problem that calls people of faith to respond. Rev. Marjorie Bowens-Wheatley will explore how we might respond. Youth are encouraged to attend.March 13 - - "Women of the Iowa Sisterhood and Their Ties to Florida." For Women's History month we are delighted to welcome Carol willis, past president of the UU Fellowship of Gainesville to our pulpit. Carol will recount the story of Eleanor Gordon (1852-1942) and Mary Safford (1851-1927) who were both part of an informal network known as the "Iowa Sisterhood" of pioneering Unitarian women ministers and often partners in ministry. Gordon's last pastorate was in Orlando, Florida from 1912-1918. - Interweave meeting from 12:30-1:30. Interweave is an organization that deals with oppression of lesbians, bay men, bisexuals, transgender persons, and their heterosexual allies.March 18-20 - Clearwater Con - LepreCON_March 20_ - "Love's Call." On this Palm Sunday when many Christian's celebrate Jesus' entrance into Jerusalem, Rev. Marjorie Bowens-Wheatley will address the question: what is it that calls us to say 'yes' even whenw e know that danger lies ahead?March 27 - "Easter/Flower Communion Service." For many UUs, Easter is a conundrum, a pretense for non-believers. It's tempting to simply replace the crown of thorns and the empty tomb with metaphors of spring, colored eggs and chocolate bunnies. But Easter is more than a cultural holiday. Rev. Bowens-Wheatley will explore the meaning of Easter and we will celebrate spring with a traditional UU flower communion. Bring a flower of your choice. Take a different flower as a symbol of our community.April 8-9 - Youth Caucus in Oveido at the UUU Church_April 15_ - Social Action Con_April 23_ - Getting to Know UU class 10:00-4:00. _1:35 pm_[girl_who_is1337] Hey, everyone! Happy (almost) Valentine's day!Today is 2/13/05and I am VicToday we participated in service saying who we were honoring with our cut-out heart valentine thingy, and we finished the sentence "Since I love you/the environment/whatever...." It was cool. Then we went back to the small dome and partied, making heart-basket-things, cookies, and just having a good time. After a while, we went into the YRUU room to have a "quickie" (a quick meeting, you perverts). We talked about the mini-YAC, and these are the people who volunteered to be one of the two youths on it if it ever gets passed by the RE committee:KathleenRachel W.VicLizSo... we gotta figure out how we're gonna vote. Uh huh. Yep.Oh! And Katie has a picture of the baby in her belly! ^_^And bring in stuff to decorate our room with!Yay! Current Mood: bouncy(Paint the walls green)

_1:11 pm_[girl_who_is1337] (Sing down with the fascist beast boom boom) Vic2/5/04Today was a rather do-nothing day. We did check-in, and then the conversation moved from scary movies to horror in general to dreams to Ukraine. We had Marichka with us, and we asked her questions. It was fun! Oh, and while we were talking about horror, Katie's head appeared at the window and we screamed when Rachel W. said "There's a head at the window!" It was funny! XDOh! And we're all gonna bring in something (NON-PERMANENT) to decorate our room with! So bring something, f00s! ^_^Love,Vic Current Mood: productive(Paint the walls green)

_7:01 pm_[uukatie] JD's mini-yac proposal Here is what JD is proposing to the RE Committee in regards to how decisions about YRUU are made. Please comment. Also, if you are interested in being on this committee let JD know. Re: YRUU AccountabilitySUMMARYYRUU is a youth-led organization with components at the congregation (Tampa), district (Florida), and association (UUA). Adults (“Advisors”) exist to provide support when needed, and to guarantee safety by ensuring compliance with all YRUU rulesYRUU affirms democratic congregational polity, and the desire of non-YRUU congregants to be involved in YRUU-related issues that affect the congregantsTo this end:A subcommittee of the RE committee should be created and empowered to address the needs of the congregation with regard to YRUU. This committee should be composed of two Tampa YRUU leaders and two RE committee members. It will operate on consensus. A facilitator will be provided to ensure that the consensus process works, and should preferably be a youth advisor, or minister, RE director, or other individual who has the confidence of all four committee members. The Committee has the power to make decisions directly affecting YRUU, or may choose to send any issue back to the RE committee for a decision or for clarification. The committee will meet only during the active RE season (never during summer), and only on demand. Current Mood: working(2 painters |Paint the walls green)
