It has been initially applied for diverse purposes, including in community development, therapeutic benefits, and as an aid in teaching and learning. DST has recently been broadly used on social media platforms for marketing, running campaigns, journalism, and much more. However, no comprehensive systematic or thematic review of DST in social media has been conducted. Accordingly, this paper aims to provide a thematic review of DST in social media. The thematic review was carried out on 50 articles published from 2016 to 2021. These 50 discrete studies were selected because they met the inclusion criteria based on the research question of this review. The thematic review used ATLAS.ti as a tool to assist the review process. The results indicated that DST in social media was appropriate for marketing, including branding and advertising. At core, there are three significant folktale classification systems that classify based on three different folktale units: type, motif, and function. Individually, type and motif each classifies based on the content of the folktale, whereas function, the structure of folktale. The study intends to generate the folktale classification system for the Malay folktales based on an integration of the three distinguished units of the folktale classification system. In order to achieve that, the method opted is structural-semantic analysis. The method, which constitutes of three levels of classification, classifies sequentially according to the content and the structure of the Malay folktales. It is hoped that the method adapted would engender a holistic and robust Malaysian folktale classification system.

The thematic qualitative text analysis (TQTA) was employed to examine TSoK. It was conducted in Atlas.ti environment to assure rigour and trustworthiness. The study's findings suggest that TSoK embodies heroes from Russian folktales. However, a conundrum exists in the embodiment of the hero. There is a conflict between the dramatis personae's role, and such an enigma calls for the involvement of other dramatis personae, which is reserved for future works. As a crusade to safeguard the Malay folktales as the unsung ICH, the findings create a platform for scholars of similar interests to pursue the examination of heroes in other Malay folktales. Most importantly, the findings are necessary for endless recreation and transmission of knowledge to safeguard the Malay folktale as a living heritage. The main drive of this study is to represent the elements from diverse experts in order to centralize them to be the single guide for digital story construction. Independently, type and motif classify based on the content of folktale while function, the structure of folktale. The study aims to generate the Malaysian folktale classification system based on an amalgamation of the three renowned units of folktale. To classify, the method selected is structural-semantic analysis which encompassed three levels of classification. It classifies sequentially according to the content and structure of the Malaysian folktale. Nonetheless, prior to classify, an identification of the Malaysian folktales must take place Such task is steered by two qualifying factors: formal features in an operational definition developed in the study and also an ownership of the folk...

It is divided into three categories: actor, item and single incident. These categories become the foundation that supports the built of the original motif-index of folk literature by Stith Thompson. Nevertheless, the index, as an analysis tool, was developed based on an analysis conducted on mostly European folk literature (folktale inclusive). It is a question dawned on the researcher regarding the applicability of the universal motifs and sub-motifs listed in the index on Malaysian folktales consideringsuchlocalfolktaleswerenotinvolvedinthemakingoftheindexmanymoonsago. Therefore, the study seeks to understand the applicability of the original motif-index in the local folktales’ context. The qualitative text analysis method was mainly employed in Atlas.ti, a computer-aided qualitative data analysis software (CAQDAS) to propel the study in understandi...

The network model is a vital support and extension of the classification system because it permits deeper study to be conducted on the root of the Malaysian folktales collected. As an effort to visualize the model systematically, a computer assisted qualitative data analysis (CAQDAS) ...
