The aim of this study is to analyse the residents perceptions on the impact of the Formula 1 Gran... more The aim of this study is to analyse the residents perceptions on the impact of the Formula 1 Grand Prix spend their first three editions (2008, 2009 and 2010) in the city of Valencia. Thus, we conducted a survey to 1,065 to discuss their opinion on this event. Results indicate that aspects related to the economic benefits, the image, sporting prestige and openness to the world of the city are the best valued. However, those related to job creation, public investment, the problems of noise and traffic, public transportation and security, development and utility infrastructure, increase in sports and facilities sports are the worst valued. There were significant differences by gender, age, residence and interest in the sport. Results of this study provide useful information for future planning and organization of major sporting events.

This work analyzes the relationships between perceived value, satisfaction and future intentions ... more This work analyzes the relationships between perceived value, satisfaction and future intentions among users of a public sport service who experience a price increase in the service they receive. A self-administered survey provides data from two samples (before and after the service price increase). After confirming the reliability and validity of the measures, hierarchical multiple regression provides the means for analyzing the data. The results show that the increase in the service price worsens the perception of service performance. As expected, satisfaction, perceived value and future intentions decrease following an increase in the service price. Perceived value also serves as a more effective predictor of future intentions than satisfaction. Finally, price increase has a low direct effect on predicting future intentions of sport users.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the evolution between 2009 and 2010 in the perception of the citizens of Tarragona on the amount of importance, impact, and expected benefits of hosting the Mediterranean Games in Tarragona in 2017. A questionnaire was administered to two random samples of citizens from Tarragona one year apart. The results showed high percentages of people who felt that this sporting event is quite or very important economically, socially and from a sports point of view, as well as with a high local and regional impact, although not as relevant at national and international level. The citizens felt that almost all aspects that influence the development of the city (infrastructure, tourism, economy, employment, sports and sports facilities), as well as political groups, athletes, and the organizing committee would benefit quite a lot from holding the Mediterranean Games in their city. The evolution of perception was also shown negative for most areas surveyed. Lower means and percentages were observed in the categories of ‘quite’ and ‘a lot’ for the 2010 sample. The results of this study are useful for event organizers to develop strategies to improve ownership, participation and identification of citizens with the event.

La finalidad de este estudio fue analizar la evolución entre los años 2009 y 2010 en la percepción de los tarraconenses sobre el grado de importancia, el impacto y los beneficios esperados de la celebración de los Juegos Mediterráneos de Tarragona en 2017. Se recogieron dos muestras de ciudadanos con un año de diferencia. Los resultados mostraron porcentajes elevados de personas que consideraban que este evento deportivo tiene bastante o mucha importancia económica, social y deportiva, así como una elevada repercusión a nivel local y autonómico, aunque no tan relevante a nivel estatal e internacional. Los tarraconenses consideraron que casi todas las áreas o sectores que influyen en el desarrollo de la ciudad (infraestructuras, turismo, economía, ocupación, práctica deportiva e instalaciones deportivas), los grupos políticos, los deportistas y el comité organizador se beneficiarían bastante o mucho de la celebración de los Juegos Mediterráneos en su ciudad. Asimismo la evolución entre las dos muestras fue negativa para la mayoría de aspectos consultados, observándose medias y porcentajes inferiores en las categorías de bastante y mucho para la muestra de 2010. Los resultados de este estudio son útiles a los organizadores del evento para desarrollar estrategias que permitan mejorar la implicación, participación e identificación de los ciudadanos con el evento"
