Adapting to these changes necessitates substantial financial resources, often exceeding the capabilities of public funding alone. This paper investigates the potential for scaling up private sector financing for climate change adaptation through microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Zimbabwe, employing a mixedmethods approach that integrates quantitative data analysis with qualitative insights from key stakeholders. The quantitative component analyzes financial data from various MFIs to assess their current capacity and performance in funding climate adaptation projects. The qualitative aspect involves interviews and focus group discussions with MFI managers, clients, and regulatory bodies to understand the challenges and opportunities within the sector. This dual approach provides a comprehensive understanding of the landscape of private financing for climate adaptation. Findings reveal that while MFIs face significant barriers such as limited financial literacy among clients, inadequate regulatory support, and high operational costs, there are also notable opportunities. These include the development of innovative financial products tailored to climate adaptation, leveraging technology to reduce costs and improve outreach, and fostering stronger public-private partnerships. The study concludes with policy recommendations aimed at enhancing the role of MFIs in climate adaptation financing. These recommendations include improving regulatory frameworks to support MFI operations, increasing investment in capacity building for both MFIs and their clients, and encouraging collaborative efforts between public and private sectors. This research contributes to the broader discourse on sustainable development finance by demonstrating the pivotal role of microfinance in enhancing community resilience to climate change.

Assessing the performance of one of the manufacturing segments of the manufacturing industry because of the effects of corporate governance was detrimental to findings on why there is limited growth in the industry. The study specifically assessed the effects of board size, board independence, CEO duality, multiple directorships, and board tenure on the company's performance. A deductive approach strategy was used, which focused on four leading cementproducing companies in Zambia: Lafarge, Dangote, Sinoma, and Zambezi Portland. A sample population of 150 participants was targeted. Questionnaires collected primary and secondary data from the company's audited reports. This study used the principal components analysis, correlation, and regression analysis using SPSS version 27. The study found and concluded a positive correlation and effect between multiple directorships and board independence on the company's performance. CEO duality positively impacted the company's performance, but it was not statistically significant. On the other hand, it was concluded and found that board tenure and board size had a negative effect on the company's performance. This implied that they had a reducing impact on the performance of the companies in the cement manufacturing industry. Cement companies should tailor the size of their boards to meet their unique requirements, even though board size and tenure have a negative and statistically significant effect on performance.

What is more disturbing is the scenario that the numbers appeared to be increasing daily. This research used a mixed-method approach. The study provided information on the teacher profile, the capacity of staff in relation to workload and expertise, factors that influenced teachers to leave the teaching profession in the province, perception of the teaching profession and employment opportunities after resignation from 590 teachers in the province. The study found that there were several factors which have contributed to high teacher resignations in the NorthWest Province over the years. The study found that one of the main causes of attrition was the Government pension fund saga. On policy implication, the Department of Basic Education has been pushing for an increase in qualified teachers' deployment to different schools due to the high demand from the increased number of students. However, due to high attrition, it has been difficult to fill the void created by teachers who have left as they take with them high-value experience leaving a high rift of inexperienced, less effective teachers in classrooms which leads to increased recruiting and training budgets. Participants indicated the existence of peers from colleagues who have resigned and are undertaking industrious projects with the Government pension money. Their desire to make money pushes them to want to do the same and this makes efforts to change their mindset quite challenging. The study concluded that the Department of Basic Education needs to focus on teacher welfare to reduce the high attrition rate and ensure student success in the long run.

These investors hold the rights to payments supported by the cash flows from an asset pool held by the said entity. In this paper, we discuss the mechanism by which low-and high-quality entities securitize low-and high-quality assets, respectively, into collateralized debt obligations. During the 2007-2009 financial crisis, asset securitization was seriously inhibited. In response to this, for instance, new Basel III capital and liquidity regulations were introduced. Here, we find that we can explicitly determine the transaction costs related to low-quality asset securitization. Also, in the case of dynamic and static multipliers, the effects of unexpected negative shocks such as rating downgrades on asset price and input, debt obligation price and output, and profit will be quantified. In this case, we note that Basel III has been designed to provide countercyclical capital buffers to negate procyclicality. Moreover, we will develop an illustrative example of low-quality asset securitization for subprime mortgages. Furthermore, numerical examples to illustrate the key results will be provided. In addition, connections between Basel III and asset securitization will be highlighted.

Smallholder farmers are a very critical heterogeneous group in the global agricultural productivity as they supply sufficient food now and in the future. The Farmer Input Support Program (FISP) has continued to target the productivity of smallholder farmers to deal with poverty alleviation without consideration of farmers' resources, incentives, aspirations, and capabilities. Intervention and Sustainability Theories were used to investigate the smallholder farmers' experiences regarding poverty alleviation in the FISP. Qualitative research was adopted with the use of semi-structured interviews for data collection while data analysis was done using NVivo computer software. The research revealed that, to tackle levitating poverty levels a move from the current seed and fertilizer subsidy-FISP, to a more inclusive policy that would include other forms of farming is critical.

Agriculture can contribute significantly to economic growth, by means of food production and job creation and thereby it can play an important role in reducing poverty. This study examines the impact of farming on economic growth and the possible role it plays in poverty alleviation in South Africa. The United Nation Department of Economic and Social Affairs highlights the first three sustainable development goals in line with poverty alleviation, zero hunger and good health and wellbeing for all. The article analysed the impact of farming on gross domestic product from 2002Q1-2021Q4 factoring in part of the period for COVID-19. A quantitative method approach was used with an application of the Vector Error Correction Method to check and analyse the behaviour of variables both in the short run and long run using E-views 12 software. Data was retrieved from the South African Reserve Bank, Statistics SA and Quantec. Results showed that variables where cointegrated meaning there was a long run relationship between the dependent variable GDP and the independent variables comprising of consumer price index, consumption, inflation, and unemployment used as proxies in understanding how farming affects economic growth and ultimately consumer well-being. Furthermore, it was found that without consumption there is no economic growth meaning the consumption of livestock, crops and export or trade between countries leads to growth. Employment is also needed in the farming industry, the availability of labour assists in faster production which leads to economic growth.

Hence, in a bid to avoid disruption to the academic calendar which may result in postponing or cancelling teaching practicums institutions of higher learning, particularly those running teacher education programmes (TEPs), have embraced the idea of conducting teaching practice (TP) online. Pre-service teachers who usually visit schools for their TP in order to gain work experience have, therefore, been forced to conduct their teaching practicums not only online but asynchronously. The following questions arose: Is there any link between the asynchronous pre-service teaching practicum, characterised by lack of engagement between the teacher and the learner, and the tenets of work-integrated learning (WIL)? And what is the implication for teacher education programme developers? The authors sought to investigate the impact of the asynchronous model of TP adopted in South African TEPs on adequately preparing preservice teachers for future teaching practice. The authors also investigated the contribution of this teaching model to the realisation of WIL objectives particularly preparing pre-service teachers for authentic classroom teaching experiences. Underpinned by the interpretivist paradigm, a qualitative research approach, narrative inquiry as research design, was followed. Moreover, purposive sampling was employed. The data were collected by means of reflective narrative essays and documentary evidence. The main findings revealed that there is a mismatch between the asynchronous teaching model and WIL. The findings also showed that the asynchronous model of teaching practicum was beneficial to TEPs, as it helped to keep learning open; however, it did not provide the required experience and serious engagements for authentic classroom teaching and learning experiences.

Securitization involves the transformation of illiquid assets into liquid and easy to sell ones. ... more Securitization involves the transformation of illiquid assets into liquid and easy to sell ones. The paper focuses on the effect of unexpected negative shocks on low quality (LQ)-asset price and input, collateralized debt obligation price and output as well as profit through the use of numerical analysis. In this regard, two kinds of multiplier processes are considered with the first being the within-period or static multiplier process where the shock such as a ratings downgrade was found to cause a fall in net value of the LQ-entity and compels it to reduce its asset demand. In this case, by keeping the future constant, the transaction fees decrease to clear the market and the asset price falls by the same amount. In turn, this lowers the value of the LQ-entity's existing assets and reduces their net value even more. Since the future is not constant, this multiplier misses the intuition which was given by the more realistic inter-temporal dynamic multiplier. In this case, the d...

The main objective was to establish the impact of good teaching strategies on learner achievement for grade 12 learners. This mainly due to the fact that poor learners from underperforming schools are encouraged to attend such camps with the aim of getting exposed to the best teachers in specific subjects including Economics. These teachers are selected by the Department of Basic Education according to their current learners pass rate which usually range from 90%-100%. The article focused on economics subject learners and the data was collected using questionnaires and interview schedules from 65 randomly selected learners and 8 teachers and analysed through a mixed method approach using Atlas.ti and Statistical Package for Social Sciences software. Results showed that high qualifications plus years of experience for teachers including good practices and teaching strategies possessed have very huge impact on learners' performance. More than 60% of the learners agreed that good practices, availability of resources and good teaching strategies where key factors available in camps which in turn improved their performance and achievement in the subject as a whole.

The study specifically assessed the effects of board size, board independence, CEO duality, multiple directorships, and board tenure on the company's performance. A deductive approach strategy was used, which focused on four leading cement-producing companies in Zambia: Lafarge, Dangote, Sinoma, and Zambezi Portland. A sample population of 150 participants was targeted. Questionnaires collected primary and secondary data from the company’s audited reports. This study used the principal components analysis, correlation, and regression analysis using SPSS version 27. The study found and concluded a positive correlation and effect between multiple director...

The article analysed the impact of farming on gross domestic product from 2002Q1 – 2021Q4 factoring in part of the period for COVID-19. A quantitative method approach was used with an application of the Vector Error Correction Method to check and analyse the behaviour of variables both in the short run and long run using E-views 12 software. This study examines the impact of farming on economic growth and the possible role it plays in poverty alleviation in South Africa.
