Teaching Initiatives
The teaching programmes offered by and through The UWI are collectively designed to complement its research agenda on climate change and sustainable development across three dimensions - economic, environmental and social - and to equip Caribbean leaders and technical managers.
Research Thrust
The UWI is the premier research facility in the Caribbean, and a global contributor to landmark, global research. A solid track record in research, which has been pivotal in providing regional and global insights, has also resulted in The UWI’s academics being invited to participate in landmark reports and publications.
Global Advocacy
Self-organisation, collaboration, advocacy and activism are critical for the Caribbean to achieve the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 13 on climate action. With the Caribbean facing the hardest hits from climate change, The UWI has been a leading advocate for climate action.
The UWI has fully embraced sustainability as a priority, not only in research and teaching but also in its institutional practices.
