The study used crosssectional data collected from a sample of 266 soybean producer farmers. Multi-stage random sampling technique was employed to select sample respondents. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze socioeconomic characteristics while the Stochastic Frontier Production Function was used, in order to estimate the level of technical, allocative and economic efficiencies among smallholder farmers. The results revealed that the mean technical efficiency of soybean producer farmers was 72.81 percent while the average efficiency of allocative and economic were 55.13 percent and 40.08 percent, respectively. On the sources of inefficiency, the study found that educational level, farming experience, distance to cooperative and input center significantly reduce the technical inefficiencies among soybean farmers, whereas distance to main road, access to credit, frequency of extension contacts, farming experience and ownerships to tropical livestock unit decreases allocative inefficiency of soybean among producers. On the other hand, educational level, frequency of extension contact, experience in farming, distance to cooperative and input center significantly reduce economic inefficiencies among soybean producer farmers in study area. The result emphasized the need for building rural infrastructure, adult education and training of farmers in FTC and demonstrate new technologies, need support of credit services and increasing frequency of extension and improvements in livestock in the study area.

Violence against women is fundamentally a result of gender based inequalities which only becomes pervasive where gender roles are strictly defined in the society. The incidence of violence against women in Zimbabwe appears ppears to gather momentum mostly during political campaigns, electoral process and immediately after the elections. The paper further discusses the implications of violence towards women including the disenfranchisement during elections. Climate change has posed a serious threat on food security in developing countries in Africa. This has led developing countries to heavily rely on foreign aid in the form of food hand-outs to avert hunger. The shift in climatic conditions over the sub-Saharan region towards semi-arid to arid conditions has stemmed up a lot of concern as to whether Africa can feed itself. The past three decades have been characterized by an erratic rainfall pattern over Africa’s sub-tropics and a significant decline in the amount of rainfall. This has resulted in droughts which have significantly affected agriculture and food production. Crops and livestock have failed to quickly adapt to these harsh climatic conditions. Research on the impacts of climate change in Zimbabwe shows that the country’s agricultural sector is already suffering from changing rainfall patterns, temperature increases and...

It traces the history of ZCC’s involvement in politics from the colonial to the postcolonial period. It indicates that the relations between the ZCC and the powers of the day have varied over time. For the period after independence, the authors draw attention to the ZCC’s struggles in the context of polarisation. They also highlight the ZCC’s role in electoral reforms, civic education and peace-building. They make some pertinent recommendations regarding how the ZCC could enhance its role in development in Zimbabwe.

By applying insights from biblical studies and other approaches, the volume sheds light on how this contentious phenomenon has been discussed in the Zimbabwean context. The different chapters highlight the role of the Bible, gender, media, literature and other perspectives have influenced attitudes towards prophets and prophecy in Zimbabwe. While the phenomenon has been principally associated with the new wave of Pentecostalism, it remains critical to appreciate pre-existing attitudes towards prophets from African Initiated Churches (AICs), as well as traditional healers in African Indigenous Religions (AIRs). Contributors to this volume have explored the complexities that characterize prophets and prophecy. The volume is of interest to scholars in biblical studies, theology, religious studies, political science, anthropology, philosophy and other disciplines. General readers, church leaders and civil society activists will also find the chapters in this volume valuable.
