best sushi downtown Okada used to be my favourite sushi place but it’s closed now, so where is the best restaurant for sushi in downtown Vancouver?
By downtown I really mean the downtown peninsula, including the West End, Yaletown, etc.
By “best” I mean highest quality, freshest, good variety, and (obviously) clean/hygienic.

Farmers Market in Peril! In case you haven't heard, the farmers market that has been held at Trout Lake for the last 13 years has to move locations this year because the community centre is undergoing renovations. The market society has applied to the city to have the market shifted to the north parking lot (technically John Hendry Park) but they need your help!
Please go to this site and sign the petition. They need 2000 signatures by April 1st.
The market has been a really excellent weekly summer event for the East Van community. Moving it to some other location, not as well established and familliar, would definitely affect all the vendors and consumers in a negative way.
Cross posted a bit.

Looking for a swanky looking resautrant outside the downtown core Hi folks,
I'm looking for some suggestions for dinner and drinks on Saturday February 20th for a friend celebrating her birthday. She's a burlesque dancer, as are several of the guests. She's hoping for somewhere kind of swanky, or perhaps old time lounge looking to go.
Because it's smack dab in the middle of the Olympics ideally the restaurant will be outside the downtown core and easily accessible by transit.
Thanks.

Themed eats? Hi everyone :)
Happy Friday!
I was wondering if there are any THEME restaurants/cafes in Vancouver/burnaby/new west/lower mainland area...?
By theme I mean movies or places or decades or people or anything, really, I know that they are a big thing in Japan and I havent come across any in Vancouver, but you never know.
Here is a wiki on them
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theme_restaurant
Any info would be great! Hope you all have a delicious weekend :)

Mussels! OK, Vancouver. Who has the best mussels? I've been craving them like mad lately and I am dying to go for a nice big plate and a glass of wine. Where's your favourite place to go for them?

poor traveller, looking for some yumz hello all,
i will be nomading my way through vancouver later this weekend, and was hoping some of you fine people could enlighten me on the cheapest possible way to find nourishment in your city? (i have heard all about how pricey life is here, but im sure, like most cities in canada, there are random spots to find cheap food, besides the garbage dumps, although, im not picky! )
: )
thanks in advance, peoples!
EDIT
will eat: anything. to be perfectly honest.
would love to have: fresh fish! (haibut!) i know this comes at a cost, a likely high one. and any recommendations of peoples favorite little hole-in-the-wall type spots in the downtown that serves up good food for decent prices.

Elimination/gluten free diet friendly restaurants? I'm traveling to Vancouver in a couple of weeks and am looking for any tips on restaurants that are elimination diet friendly. Basically, I'm vegetarian and avoiding all dairy, wheat/gluten, sugar, soy and a bunch of other things... Places where I've generally found food tend to be veggie restaurants, raw food places, and other organic "health food" type restaurants where they list what is gluten free on their menu, or are typically knowledgeable about the ingredients in their food. Any suggestions?
Thanks a bunch!

red velvet cake Does anyone know of a place that sells red velvet cake by the slice? I know of two places that sell it in cupcake form (Cupcakes and Butter Baked Goods). Are there any other places that carry it?
Thanks in advance!

Brunch by Stanley Park? Hey Foodies!
Can anyone recommend a nice place for brunch close to Stanley Park? It's my birthday on Monday and I'd like to go somewhere with good food and nice atmosphere, possibly on Denman or Davie.
I'd love to hear your suggestions!

visiting vancouver in a little bit... Hi everyone!
Me and my brother are going to be in Vancouver from April 3rd to 8th and we like to dine out and we are looking for some unforgettable restaurants to enjoy while we're there.
I'd like to know everyone's favorite places to eat, cheap or expensive (we're on holiday and price isn't really an issue) we're just looking for good value and good experience, and we would love to hear what everyone's recommendations are, since you guys know best. :)
thanks in advance if you can help!

Round Table Pizza Their pizza is salty, they have shady drivers, and the driver made me carry my own pizza boxes to my own door because "the debit machine doesn't work sometimes indoors." What if I have mobility issues that are more severe?! I am never ordering from them again.
