Hewitt to groom 'Zoom' (original) (raw)

Allen saddles up for superhero role

Pete Hewitt will direct Tim Allen in “Zoom’s Academy,” a Revolution Studios comedy about an out-of-shape former superhero called back into action to save the world.

Scripted by Adam Rifkin and rewritten by Jordan Roberts, film is being produced by Suzanne Todd and Jennifer Todd, with Underground Film’s Nick Osborne and Trevor Engelson exec producing. Production will begin in late spring.

Pic is based on the Jason Lethcoe graphic novel “Zoom’s Academy for the Super Gifted.” Project’s being steered by Revolution partner Todd Garner.

Hewitt most recently directed “Garfield: The Movie.”

Allen will be making his second Revolution turn, after just starring with Jamie Lee Curtis in the Joe Roth-directed Thanksgiving family comedy “Christmas With the Kranks.”
