Born a moonshot
2015
Verily was born a moonshot at Google X, to tackle health’s biggest challenges by developing tools, services and software to help customers across the healthcare ecosystem. This experimentation-centric approach led to innovations at the intersection of health and tech, including a partnership with Dexcom to deliver miniaturization technology as part of their G6 and G7 continuous glucose monitoring devices, and the launch of the Verily Study Watch, a clinical-grade device with customizable features to collect data in clinical trials. We launched the Project Baseline Health Study (PBHS) in 2017, a longitudinal registry, representative of the US population, in partnership with Stanford, Duke, and the California Health and Longevity Institute (CHLI) to better understand health and disease over time. Our foundational work provided valuable insights into pushing the boundaries of medical science and shaping our approach to maximize effectiveness.

The Covid era
2020
During the outbreak of COVID-19, our team pivoted to pandemic response, utilizing our technology and resources to serve the broader community. We stood up successful population health programs including our Healthy at Work which helped employees get back into the workplace safely through a configurable vaccine tracker & testing program built around public health and OSHA guidelines. Additionally, WastewaterSCAN, a Stanford-led initiative with Emory University and Verily, was built to develop and scale a national wastewater sentinel system that informs public health measures to mitigate the spread of infectious diseases such as COVID-19.
