Internet Radios Nov. 5th, 2011 @ 11:13 am
aurora_nebulosa Greetings. So, I gather that there are actual physical radios that can get online radio stations on them. I am wondering, however, if any of these radios are accessible via either speech or high magnification? Thanks(Leave a comment)
Jeopardy! Facebook App Nov. 2nd, 2011 @ 12:40 pm
aurora_nebulosa How accessible is the new Jeopardy! Facebook app for folks with low vision when we use screen magnification and thus read more slowly than average because of their vision?(Leave a comment)
Phone Navigation Problems Oct. 6th, 2011 @ 05:42 pm
aurora_nebulosa Greetings.I am presently using an HP iPAQ Glisten mobile/cell phone with Windows Mobile 6.5 and Mobile Speak. When I bring up the composition window for a text message and have entered in all my contacts, I am then unable to navigate down to where I can enter the actual text for the message! When I hit the Down Arrow, it just keeps me in the "To" field (where all of my selected contacts have been entered)! I can't get out of the "To" field by using my arrow keys! A similar problem appears to exist when I am in Internet Explorer: When I am in a multi-line text box, after I have entered text, I can find no way to get out of that text box to take other actions. If I press "Enter", it just takes me down a line, but keeps me in the text box and I can't get out of it do to any other actions, such as hit a "Submit" button in a form!HELP!!!(Leave a comment)
Calendars Aug. 25th, 2011 @ 03:46 pm
aurora_nebulosa Does anyone know of a calendar web site (along the lines of, but other than, yahoo) that plays nicely with Internet Explorer's "accessibility" features of text size, zoom and custom color schemes?(Leave a comment)
Question Time Mar. 7th, 2011 @ 08:46 pm
aurora_nebulosa How do you guys handle the following scenario?:You come on your own to an assembly you've never been to before. The speaker ceases speaking and it's time for questions. You wish to ask a question. One of two options are available:1) You are asked to come up to the mic at some ambiguous location in the room. How do you manage that? or...2) You are asked to raise your hand to ask a question. However, no-one knows your name and so you know the "manager" of the event is going to have to point to you to acknowledge you if you raise your hand. What do you do?(Leave a comment)

» DDA Levels
Does anyone know where I can find the definition of the DDA levels? I have seen examples of websites being described as compliant to DDA level 2 (there are apparently 3 levels). What I have not been able to find is a clear definition of these levels. I have also seen references to priority levels A, AA, AAA, which I assume are analogous to the DDA levels.I would be really grateful if someone could point me in the direction of any definitive statements as to what these levels actually mean.Jul. 17th, 2010 @ 06:24 pm(Leave a comment)

» Are sighted folks deaf?
Well, folks. It happened again and for about the fifty billionth time. I requested that the person assisting me in shopping pick me up some "Lucky Charms" cerea. (Yes, I still love all that sweet kids cereal in the morning!) But, turns out, she picked me up something that sounded nothing like Lucky Charms; she picked up Fruit Loops (or however quirky way the company spells it on the box). Are the covers of the boxes that similar in appearance, or do sighted folks just not use their ears?Mar. 2nd, 2009 @ 12:09 pm(Leave a comment)
» Samsung Guide Dog Commercial
I've been hearing of late a commercial put on by Samsung where a Korean girl talks about how she lost her sight 15 years ago and has "seen far more than ever before" (or something like that) now that she has her guide dog. Does anyone know what's going on visually in this commercial?Feb. 20th, 2009 @ 03:45 pm(Leave a comment)
