Knitting Meet Up! Nov. 6th, 2006 @ 12:02 pm
marydotmusic Just thought I'd let you guys know that if you're a knitter, there's a new knit group in town! We meet every Tuesday night, 7pm at Serious Coffee on Yates (across the street from a&b Sound.) Bring your friends and your knitting project. Beginners are welcome too as there'll be other knitters around to help you out if you need it. Oh and crocheters are welcome too. Be there! Feel free to check out our newly created community bitchybees. :) We also post if we can't make it on a particular Tuesday night, so feel free to watch the community if you'd like.(2 comments | Leave a comment)

victriviaqueen Howdy... now that it's summer, I have time to get crafting again... anyone else out there use the site Etsy.com for selling (or buying)? I've been on there a while but haven't made any sales yet. Anyone else working on fun projects? Some of my recent projects can bee seen in my Craft-Fu set on Flickr.Current Mood: curiouscurious (Leave a comment)

phylum_dork This is my first post to this community... in fact this is my first post to any community. Lately i have been in an incredibly creative mood (and by that, I mean I've been longing to create something, not that i have been doing any such thing). I finally went and made some earrings:Image hosting by PhotobucketAnd I was wondering if anyone knows of any really cool bead stores, other than the one in market square? I like that one, but I want to look around, and have more options. Also, does anyone know of any sewing classes? That may be happening between May and August? I have an entire summer ahead of me, with no school, and I want to start being productive.Current Mood: contentcontentCurrent Music: Bob Dylan - Just Like A Women (Leave a comment)

Pageboy Chemo Dec. 21st, 2005 @ 11:59 pm
nibo Here's the deal, guys. I'm a long time lurker and have posted to a few of these threads once or twice. Now I'm in a bind and need help. I've been scouring the internet for anything I can use and I've come up nearly blank. I have four skeins of Moa Boa and want to knit a chemo cap for a friend of mine who's going into the hospital next month. However, she REALLY wants a pageboy type cap, so I'm trying to figure something out. Any ideas? Patterns? Thoughts?Cross-Posted like Mad(2 comments | Leave a comment)
Fisherman's Rib Nov. 26th, 2005 @ 07:53 pm
jastabell There is a stitch pattern called the fisherman's rib that I can't for the life of me figure out....the instructions say: K1b. (knit one into the stitch below). Okay so what the ef!? The stitch BELOW the the next stitch on the LH needle? I try that and it gets real messy real quick. The whole pattern for the fishermans rib is K to end, sl1, *k1b, p1. repeat to end and then sl1*p1,k1b,rep from * to last 2st then p1 k1. to form the pattern repeat 2nd and 3rd row. So I could figure everything else out if I could just figure out how to k1b. any suggestions? pictures? etc.?(3 comments | Leave a comment)

wool quest Jul. 3rd, 2005 @ 12:41 pm
punk_mermaid where do most of you get your wool? I usually get it from my knitting/spinning-guru granny, but I feel bad raiding her collection so frequently lately, and I'm going to need a fair bit for my next project... I went into the beehive the other day, and while I just about died of drooling, it seemed rather expensive for even something as basic as black cotton! I know i've seen good deals at Walmart and Zellers for acrylic and such, is it worth it or does the quality make a difference? What about thrift shops? Thanks :)Current Mood: cravingCurrent Music: Volcano ('97 Demo) (B-Sides) by Damien Rice (7 comments | Leave a comment)

jessij I think this is my first post here...These are the cards and bandanas I am working on for my gumboot dance troupe leaders. (Gumboot is a dance that originated in the mines of South Africa during apartheid) We wear bandanas when we perform so I got a lot of practice doing rolled hems and sewed up a bunch and stenciled africa (where gumboot started), Vancouver Island (where we live), and the stickman gumboot dancer from our t-shirts. Hope you like!( enjoyCollapse )http://www.uvss.uvic.ca/clubs/acsa/activities.htmlx-posted to craftgrrl(2 comments | Leave a comment)
