Review of prior literature indicates that research on substance use has been extensively done. Measures suggested are to imprint pictorial signs that depict the ill effects of tobacco use. Studies on the effect of pictorial warnings on tobacco use have been scarcely done and instruments to measure the use of substance, pictorial warnings and its effects are also scarce in India. This study makes an attempt to develop validate and test for reliability a questionnaire to measure substance use, effects of pictorial warnings on substance use. The data is collected from 53 students.

Some authors have viewed supply chains more holistically as the total chain of exchange from original source of raw material, through the various firms involved in extracting and processing raw materials, manufacturing, assembling, distributing and retailing to ultimate end customers. Traditionally, economic theory mentions the following factors for comparative advantage for regions or countries hence in this empirical study following factors were studied: Land, Location, Natural resources (minerals, energy), Labour, and Local population size. Because these four factors can hardly be influenced, this fits in a rather passive (inherited) view regarding national economic opportunity. ...

Data are collected from 332 employees, has been tested with KMO sampling adequacy (0.862) and Bartlett’s sphericity test (p = 0.000). Data Analysis has been done through Descriptive Statistics, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), Friedman Rank Test and Structural Equation Model. Results were revealed that the PPEFS is significantly predicted by PSFS, PGFS, POFS and PJFS. Further, results were revealed that Perceived Person-Environment Fit Scale is influencing Employees’ Turnover Intention with their present employers.

Research paper thumbnail of Integrated supply chain risk management capabilities and its impact on supply chain demand management - an empirical study

Several attempts were made by the practitioners and academicians to understand supply chain risks and their sources. As the supply chain environment is getting sophisticated day by day, the understanding of supply chain becomes increasingly challenging and need of the hour. This empirical paper attempts to understand the sources of supply chain risk and its effect on supply chain demand management. Survey instrument was administered to collect response from the manufacturing companies in India. Data was analysed with the help of PLS and SmartPLS 2.0 M3 was utilised to compute PLS. The result shows that the variables like supply management capability, supply chain information management and supply chain environmental uncertainty management capability are having positive impact on supply chain risk as well as on supply chain demand management. These findings will provide various insights for the practitioners and be used as a knowledge repository in the area of supply chain risk management.

To sustain in this unpredictable environment firm needs strategy on supply chain flexibility (SCF). We intend to empirically examine the impact of supply chain flexibility on supply chain performance (SCP) and also to identify the antecedent variables to SCF. This study includes 249 samples from manufacturing industry. We used structural equation model with a partial least square (PLS-SEM) approach for examining the model and SmartPLS 2.0 software was used for analysis. The result indicates that the SCF significantly contributes to the supply chain performance namely demand management, supply chain reliability (SCR) and supply chain knowledge development. The mediation analysis shows that SCF partially mediates the relationships between supply chain capabilities and supply chain performance. The findings contribute to the existing literature and also provide direction for further research in SCF.

Of late, the workforce is increasingly dependent on social networking sites (SNS) for social exchanges and debate is well documented if SNS could be used to mediate the relationship between stress and MWB. The purpose of this paper is to investigate this relationship. Design/methodology/approach This study is based on a survey of 269 employees, on the following constructs: stress, online social support (OSS) and MWB. The authors’ proposed framework was investigated using structural equation modeling. Findings Results indicated that stress has a significant negative effect on MWB and subsequently, OSS partially mediates the relationship between stress and MWB. The results suggest that organizations allow the use of social networking site in a controlled setting so that employees could use this as a mechanism to control stress and enhance...

The literature has highlighted many studies investigations on the students' intention to use technology in many Western, African and South East Asian countries. This article brings in the factors influencing students' adoption of ICT tools in higher education institutions in India. The Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model was used to determine the predictors of ICT adoption in learning their coursework in colleges. The results were obtained by structural equation modelling, using the data collected from 398 students doing their undergraduate engineering programs. The findings show that performance expectancy, effort expectancy and social influence has a positive significant relationship on behavioral intention to use ICT tools and facilitating conditions has a direct relationship with usage behaviour. The findings have led to relevant theoretical and practica...

Prescriptive policies are also formulated to control unintended negative consequences. Design/methodology/approach The authors have used an explorative design. Prescriptive data were drawn from extant literature, simple discussions with employees and employers. Discussions were centered on the consequences of SNS. Findings In recent years, SNS usage has skyrocketed and use in the workplace has been controversial. Use of SNS enables employees to communicate and connect not only with coworkers but also with family members and friends, and it also helps to minimize the stress and improve the well-being of employees. However, a comprehensive policy that controls negative consequences should be in place. Originality/value This paper sensitizes readers on the need for permitting SNS usage within a policy-controlled se...

Data was collected from 19 engineering, 7 management and 8 arts and science colleges. A total of 328 teachers responded to the survey. Findings: The study shows the state of use of educational technology in colleges in Tamil Nadu. It draws upon the various infrastructural challenges that the teachers face on using technology in classrooms. Advanced trainings and follow ups are necessary to improve the present conditions. The teachers are provided only with minimum facilities on use of internet and computers. Application/Improvement: This paper makes a significant contribution to the lack of research pertaining to unknown problems of using educational technology in colleges and universities in India. It gives a clear picture why teachers do not use technologies in classrooms and also suggests solutions to infrastructural challenges.

Limited studies have been conducted, to assess the quality of services, rendered by the medical tourism facilitators and healthcare providers. This study was undertaken to establish relationship between the five service quality factors and the overall service quality. The measurement model of service quality was first tested by using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). Results indicated that the model was fit and all the variables were significantly loaded. Thereafter, the structural model, consisting of the five service quality factors and overall service quality, was tested by using multiple regression. Regression results reported significant relationship between the five service quality factors and the overall service quality. The authors have discussed the result and presented the implications for the healthcare and service providers in this study.
