_4:39 pm_[kilimanjaro5] Marina Abramovic Has anyone seen Abramovic's Seven Easy Pieces at the MOMA? She reenacted (poorly) Seed Bed. Apparently (according to a friend of mine who went, sadly I couldn't) her dialogue digressed into discussion of Acconci's original motives for the piece. Any thoughts on reenactions of performance pieces? (Comment on this)

_2:39 pm_[ifoughtpiranas] So I joined this community about a week ago, but haven't had much time to really introduce myself.I'm Lauren and I'm an art history junior at the University of Oklahoma (soon to be double major in studio with an emphasis in ceramics or sculpture). I got into Vito Acconci about...hmm...last year when we talked about him in my art theory class. I started writing all of my papers for school about his art (mainly just critiques for theory and research for art history).I really like Seedbed, and I can't get enough of Ten Packed Minutes. That's pretty much who I am, as far as what I do and Vito Acconci goes. (I like other artists too!)I'm really looking forward to some great discussion on Acconci, and his work. It's about time that a community like this be put together. So with all of that said, I'll leave everyone with a link for now (just because I'm packed with things to do and i just got back in town from a concert!)it's an interview with Acconci, I find it pretty interesting. http://redstudio.moma.org/features/# (Comment on this)

_4:29 pm_[ignoramouse] A distillation “If I specialise in a medium, I would be fixing ground for myself, a ground I would have to be digging myself out of, constantly, as one medium was substituted for another - so, then instead of turning toward ‘ground’ I would shift my attention and turn to ‘instrument,’ I would focus on myself as the instrument that acted on whatever ground was available.” From Acconci’s essay Steps Into Performance (And Out) of 1979.Current Mood: stalking (Comment on this)
