The electro-conductive fabrics are used as conducting patch and ground plane. They are made up of conductive yarns of cotton and copper filament twisted together to form an assembled fabric. Apart from this, a polypropylene based non-woven fabric is used as a substrate for the antenna designed at a target frequency of 2 GHz. The simulated and measured results are in good agreement.

Photoconductive silicon switch is placed along the length of the stub loaded CMSA. The effect of varying parameters viaz., width, length and photo-conductivity of a silicon switch has been investigated through simulation. The proposed stub loaded CMSA with photoconductive switch, has achieved frquency switching range of around 142 MHz. Measurement has been carried out to validate the proposed geometry, which are in good agreement.

Hexagonal microstrip antenna has been design based on their equivalence with rectangular microstrip antenna and circular microstrip antenna. An increase in its bandwidth is realized by cutting pair of rectangular slot on X and Y axis of hexagonal microstrip antenna. Proposed design is simulated using different materials. Simulation and experimental result have been compared to validate the proposed design.

Antenna performance is described in terms of various performance metrics viz. efficiency, gain, directivity, main lobe and power radiation level and bandwidth. For enhancing these parameters Meta-materials (MMs) are used as an uniform flat lens along with the antenna. For analysis purpose, a patch antenna & its array of 2×2 is designed for 3.5 GHz (popularly used as Worldwide Inter-operability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) band) frequency and simulated using CST software. The performance evaluation of these antennas with and without the meta-material is illustrated. Incorporation of the meta-material lens with array enhances the gain (20.34%), directivity (11.584%), bandwidth (1.0052%). It also strengthens the main lobe level (20.50%) and improves the power radiation (1.65 W, 3.125%). Hence, results in improvement of efficiency of the system with 4.478%.

A comparative study of variation in performance of helical antenna with respect to variation in thickness of wire and ground plane size at 1.8 GHz is carried out using simulation. By comparing various results, appropriate values of the parameters are selected and the proposed antenna has been fabricated and results are experimentally validated.

Microstrip line feed of 50 Ω impedance along one of the radiating edges with a single shorting post has been proposed for impedance matching. A detailed investigation of the rectangular microstrip antenna with and without single shorting pin has been presented and experimentally validated with good agreement.
