Advancement in the latest technology has made researchers to generate data at a faster pace and collect the data in an efficient manner. Prior to the invention of computers, data collection, storage and processing was a tedious task. Hence, researchers were able to perform the analysis on data samples. But with the rapid development of computer and communication technologies, big data analytics play a major role where the prototype transition of human perception about our living world evolved. This paper discusses how traditional data analytics differs from big data analytics, the three methods of data analytics and also applications of big data with regard to business, social and scientific applications.

Medical data mining has great potential for exploring the hidden patterns in medical data and these patterns can be utilized for clinical diagnosis. Analysis of medical data is often concerned with the treatment of incomplete knowledge, with management of inconsistent pieces of information. In the present study, the theory of Rough set is applied to find dependence relationship among data, evaluate the importance of attributes, discover the patterns of data, learn common decision-making rules, reduce the redundancies and seek the minimum subset of attributes so as to attain satisfactory classification. It is concluded that the decision rules with and without reducts) generated by the rough set induction algorithms (Exhaustive, Covering, LEM2 and GA) not only provide new medical insight but also are useful for medical experts to analyze the problem effectively and find optimal cost.

Research paper thumbnail of OUTLIER MINING IN MEDICAL DATABASES BY USING STATISTICAL METHODS

International Journal of Engineering Science, Jan 1, 2012

This paper elaborates how the outliers can be detected by using statistical methods. A total of 78, 67, 82, 78 and 69 outliers in five medical datasets are detected for the statistics namely leverage, R-standard, R-student, DFFITS, Cook's D and covariance ratio. The results of the present investigation suggest that (i) the extraordinary behavior of outliers facilitates the exploration of the valuable knowledge hidden in their domain and help the decision makers to provide improved, reliable and efficient healthcare services (ii) medical doctors can use the present experimental results as a tool to make sensible predictions of the vast medical databases and finally (iii)a thorough understanding of the complex relationships that appear with regard to patient symptoms, diagnoses and behavior is the most promising area of outlier mining.

The aim of this study is to identify how the project team communication or the stakeholder communication is critical for the IT project success. Project team communication with the key stakeholders is imperative, as the project team works collaboratively to achieve the needs and the requirements of the stakeholders. Another objective of this study is also to identify the essential element of communication called communication management plan document. The study aims to recognize the content of the communication management plan that aid to have an efficient communication with the stakeholders that indeed will improve the success rate of the software development project.
