This is not different in Ghana. In Ghana, the Ashanti Region is reported to have the highest rate of teenage pregnancy. This presupposes the prevalence of premarital sexual practice among the youth in the region. The study sought to assess the prevalence of premarital sexual practices among Junior High students in the Ashanti Region of Ghana and the factors accounting for that in order to suggest some lessons for Christian advocacy. The study used the Trede Adventist Junior High School as a case study. The descriptive-analytical method was used to discuss the data collected. The study uncovered that premarital sexual practice is prevalent among students of the Trede Adventist JHS. Peer pressure, poverty, poor parenting, dating, sexual urge, covetousness, media, lack of sex education and drug abuse were mentioned as the influencing factors. The study observed that there is a need for Christian advoc...

Hence, the pioneers of African Christian Theology focused on African culture and identity. The emphasis on this identity and cultural heritage seems to be prolonged and threatens the sight of the reality of the continent and the indispensable role of Christianity in response. This paper proposes that African Christian Theology should drive beyond the consideration of African cultural heritage and identity

It was observed in the study that the Roman Catholic Church's relationship and role to the Ecumenical Movement has been determined by two-time epochs: Before Vatican II (1962-1965), and after Vatican II. Before Vatican II, Roman Catholicism was critical of the Ecumenical Movement and sought to distance itself from it. However, after Vatican II (1962-1965), Roman Catholicism changed her strategy in relating to the Ecumenical Movement, and not her position. She redefines ecumenism as a return of the separated churches to her, and goes a step further to amalgamate all world religions. This actually poses a threat to the Ecumenical Movement since it can lead to Roman Catholic supremacy and dominance of the movement. It also has the potential of threatening religious freedom leading to theological compromises.

This study sought to make a case for Paul’s silence over foot washing in 1Corinthians11:23-25. The study used comparative and analytical methodologies to arrive at an understanding of foot washing in 1 Corinthians 11:23-25. As a theological paper, this study made clear the status and role of the rite of foot washing as it relates to the Lord’s Supper, and why Paul does not address it in 1 Corinthians 11:23-25. It was observed that in 1 Corinthians 11:23-25, Paul was addressing one of the complaints and anomalies in the Corinth Church, which obviously was the Lord’s Supper and not foot washing. Again, Paul did not state foot washing in 1 Corinthians 11:23-25 because perhaps his oral source did not mention it. On the other hand, John states foot washing because of his peculiar interest in Jesus’ humility. This ...

A typical example of a people who genuinely admire their unique cultural practices is the Akans of Ghana. There are many unique rites within Akan culture. Among them are birth rites, puberty rites, marriage rites, death and funeral rites. This paper considers funeral rites among the Akans and its impact on the Adventist Church. The article, therefore, seeks to answer these questions: How are funeral rites performed among the Akan? What effect does Akan funeral rites have on the Adventist Church? It also provides a biblical response to the Akan worldview of the immortality of the soul. The paper identifies that the Akan worldview of Saturday God is a favorable factor in the spread and growth of Adventism among the Akans. However, modernization of some aspects of Akan culture particularly funeral rites have changed the story. The celebration of Akan funeral rite services on Saturdays instead of the traditional Thursday is posing a threat to Akan Adventism. It, also, came out that the Akan worldview of the immortality of the soul has no sound biblical foundation. KEYWORDS: Akan, funeral rites, biblical, immortality of the soul,
