Previous Entry Flag Next EntryHi, I'm Annie. I'm 22, married for 2 years, & we've decided to start passively TTC. The thing is, I'm more wanting to active TTC. I've been on bc pills since I was 15. I've been off them for a month now & I am currently on my period. Is there a way to find out if I've even fertile yet, besides fertility tests? I mean, is there a sure-fire way to know you're fertile? I know my ovulation period will be around February 6-13 somewhere, but what's to even say I'm fertile yet from being on the pill for so long? I know it differs from person to person, but is there a way to find out?

You could get into charting, taking your temperature every day and checking things like cervical fluid will let you know if you're fertile as well as using ovulation kits or they can let you know you're not ovulating and you need to look into something to help you get going. It's not going to give you answers right this minute, you can't know you're fertile until it's time for you to ovulate but if you keep track of it you'll know soon enough and since you're on your period now is an excellent time to start. A lot of doctors will make you try to get pregnant for a year before they'll do anything for you so if you give the charting a try and it's obvious that you're not ovulating by the charts they might be inclined to help you along with fertility drugs sooner than a year.I suggest using http://www.fertilityfriend.com if you would like to get into charting as well as checking out the book titled "Taking Charge of your Fertility" It's an amazing book that really gives you insight on how your body works when it comes to trying to get pregnant and even avoiding it, and the book also goes into charting methods. And one other place you might want to check out is http://www.pregnancy.org thats a kickass site with some of the best support on the message boards i've ever seen.I have used both of these sites and read the book and am more than happy to pass along this information and hope it's as helpful to you as it was to me. Granted it took us nearly 2 years, fertility drugs, a miscarriage, tears, fights, mood swings and hot flashes but here we are at 33 weeks pregnant with our first little boy and it was all worth it in the end. Good luck to you, let me know if you need any more help with anything :)Crystal
