The book opens with an introduction, which outlines the main issues and assumptions of the book, gives an overview of its content, and explains how it should be used. The main part of the book is divided into three sections: (i) Contextualising ESP, which describes the background to ESP as a field of enquiry; (ii) Understanding the four pillars of ESP, which explains the theories and practices that form the basis of the four key pillars of ESP; and (iii) Applying ESP in realworld settings, which first defines ways to implement ESP, then discusses the main challenges that instructors have to deal with while teaching ESP and, finally, outlines the future direction of the field. The sections are further divided into ten chapters in total. They all have the same structure and exhibit the same features: each chapter is initiated with a brief statement describing the relevance of the topic to be addressed, then it contains a short review of what will be covered, and, lastly, it offers an explanation of what

Problem: Currently, most social media analysis is carried out using custom computer scripts written in programming languages such as Python and R. Although these custom scripts can be very powerful, they create an enormous barrier to those without a strong computational background or the resources to hire a software engineer or data scientist. Key concepts: FireAnt is a freeware, stand-alone, multiplatform social media data-analysis tool designed for both novice and expert computer users. It can be used to collect, analyze, and subsequently visualize social media data as time-series plots, geopositional maps, and network graphs. It can also export results for further processing using traditional corpus tools, statistical packages, and custom scripts. Key lessons: This paper will show how FireAnt can be used to collect social media data related to specific companies, analyze those data, and visualize the data in a variety of ways. Implications for practice: FireAnt has applications in various technical and professional communication settings-for example, as part of a strategy to develop a social media presence and in the analysis of company-customer interactions and user perceptions of goods and services. It can also be used in the technical writing classroom as part of instructor-and student-centered instruction on the safe, appropriate, and effective use of language on social media platforms.

This article offers a commentary on four vocabulary studies that explicitly reference the use of corpus linguistics in the development of new vocabulary resources, tools, and concepts. First, the article categorizes corpus linguistics research into two distinct areas and then positions the four studies in these areas. Next, the article summarizes the results of the four studies, before making suggestions for strengthening the works from the perspective of mainstream corpus linguistics research. The article concludes with a general comment on the value of the studies as they relate to corpus linguistics and vocabulary research in general.

The editor, Diane Belcher, opens the book with an extended introduction explaining some of the key features of ESP methodology, including its diverse range of sub-disciplines, the importance of needs analysis, the recent use of corpus tools, and the importance of needs-knowledgeable instructors. This is followed by four articles covering EAP, seven chapters covering EOP, and two chapters covering ESCP. Then, Brian Paltridge closes the book with an afterword on the past and current state of ESP, in which he comments on the increasingly complex picture of language that ESP researchers have discovered.
