poetic talk (original) (raw)
Here is an edited copy of Carol Koss Poetry update. (I made some changes because the Satellite Barista has closed and the uncertainty of the Hair Café readings.)
I also heard of a Gary Mex Glazner workshop that should be happening around March. I noticed that this is not in the update.
Remember that we are in the middle of our Slam Tournament to decide who will be on the OKC Team for the National Poetry Slam. The Next Semifinal will be on this Wednesday, Feb 16th.

IAO POETRY ET AL UPDATE ON THE LAST UPDATE: February 13, 2005 "A musician must make music, an artist must paint, a poet must write. What human beings can be, they must be." Abraham Maslow
THIS WILL BE THE LAST UPDATE UNTIL THE BEGINNING OF APRIL! So, run a copy and put it in a conspicuous place. * = IAO Sponsored Events
This update was started January 30th and will be finished today. My apologies to the people who sent me information that did not get sent out in time. A little more than three weeks ago, I came down with the flu. While the worst of the symptoms are over, I seem to keep relapsing and this leaves me with no inclination at all to sit at the computer. I read my e-mail - quickly - at work; then, come home and collapse. Again, I apologize. This will be the last update until April.
KUDOS: To DOROTHY ALEXANDER, for her article ("Poetry Lives! And Many Really Do Care") in the January 10th issue of the OKLAHOMA OBSERVER.
KUDOS: To ILENE YOUNGHEIN , for the amazing reading and booksigning this past Thursday at Full Circle. This was a true celebration of an inspiring life. Thanks, too, to Dorothy Alexander for publishing Ilene's book.
ART of E-MOTION Workshops: Lynda Toney-Bahr has returned to OKC and has opened a studio at 4309 N.Western. (949-9897). Lynda is offering a variety of creative opportunities including "Creative Journal Expressive Arts." This is a multimedia exploration in healing and growth through movement, sound, voice dialogue, visual art, poetry, collage, and journaling. Toney-Bahr's approach is based on the work and books of Dr. Lucia Capacchione. OKC options include workshops, private groups, private sessions, and retreats. Free introductory workshops are offered every Thursday from 6 - 8. Please register in advance. For a list of upcoming events, call or e-mail Lyndagtb2@yahoo.com.
Interesting website: Audrey Streetman sent this one. http://www.ekiwah.com. This is the site of an amazing young poet (17 years old) who has cerebral palsy. Audrey's daughter saw his story on DATELINE.
OKLAHOMA HUMANITIES COUNCIL INTERVIEW WITH FRAN RINGOLD: Check out the winter issue (Vol. 23 No.1): "On Being Oklahoma's Poet Laureate."
