FTP with Coffee Cup Free Ftp Downloading and InstalationFirst off you have to download and install the Coffee Cup thingy. Justgoto http://download.com.com/3000-2160-915590.html?tag=lst-0-1and download it.When I download something, I press the save button and save it in a file that I can remember where I stuck it. Then when it is downloaded, I open it from the file I saved which will install it.But you can also use the open option and it will install it automatically. How to Make a Community OUTDATEDWhen I want to make a LiveJournal community, I first think of a name and try to see if there is a journal with that name by adding the name to the end of this url address;http://www.livejournal.com/userinfo.bml?user=If it takes you to a page that says, Malformed username. either your username has characters that are not recognized or it is too long. I only use lower case letters, an underscore or numbers.Secondly, you'll need a LiveJournal account for the community and one to maintain it. So if you already have your own LiveJournal, login and see if you have any codes to make your community account. If you have never been to that page before, you'll need to generate your codes.Once they are generated you'll need to go back to the list of codes and press the link that says use under where it says Redeemed by. That will take you to the page that creates a journal.Enter the username for the community in the proper text box exactly the way you wanted it, remember you only get one chance at it. Then fill in all the info it askes for; make sure your email address is correct also or you will not be able to confirm the account. Once you have everything correct, press the Proceed button once.Wait for a few minutes for the conformation email to get to you and press the conformation link, it should be the top link.Now you are ready to transform it into a community.Go to the community creation page and fill it out exactly as it says!!! Your personal username and password should be placed in the top two text boxes and the community username and password go into the text boxes right below, don't mess it up or you will be knocking yourself out trying to get your journal to become your personal journal again!!!The Open Membership is the easiest way to go, that way people can just join with no action on your part. If you choose the Closed Membership you would need to know how to use the console to add members. The console is very tricky, I would suggest to the people that aren't used to html coding or the like to not choose that option.The next choice, is choosing who can post to your community. Basically the same arguments apply, as the previous paragraph, if you don't have coding skills, poke the All Members radio poker hole thingy. :P Press the Creat Community button and you have your community.To help yourself in making your community a success, you may want to join,  community_promo to advertise it, (Make sure you read the profile completely!!) and join maintainers, (maintainers is a good community to ask questions about running your community.)Also a successful community will need it's interests packed with as many keywords as you can think of, that pertain to it's subject matter. Basically it is self explainitory if you look at the comments of this page. It is all made up of CSS, Cascading Style Sheet code. These are override codes to be pasted into the "Style Overrides" box at the bottom of the "Modify Journal" page where it says; This is not where you type your journal.http://www.livejournal.com/modify.bmlThese codes will work with the "Default LiveJournal", "Punquin Elegant w/ Sidebar", "Notepad", "Refried Paper", "Clean and Simple", "Disjointed", and "Magazine" styles. If you have a different style you will have to follow the link below, I will just work with these styles to avoid confusion. All the words that will be displayed in your journal are in bold letters so you can tell which letters you should change. DO NOT change any of the other charactors or you could get some unexpected affects. Text help. This is the headline command (no.1)! Use from 1 to 5This is the headline command (no.5)! Use from 1 to 5The font size can be from 1 to 7!!Always end the font commands when you change size, color or type, with.The font color can be any regular color you can think of, like , , . You also can use weird ones like but I wouldn't get too involved with them kind. Another way to choose color is by using hexadecimal numbers, from 00 to ff. It is broken down into 3 sets the first two digets are for the red color, the send set is for green and the third is blue. I know it don't add up right but that is what is does! I have a page that can help you pick all the colors by the numbers, (I got to find it.). Look here; (if you notice it is really the jade color) Make sure you start the numbers with (#).You can also change the font type. I usually justgoto a program like Works Word Processor to find font names. Just type something in the space provided and then scroll through the font types to find what you might want to use. Then just enter the exact name of the font type, as long as you dont have weird fonts they will work for most people. If the people viewing your page don't have that type their browser will use it's default font. So don't get too involved with choosing a exotic font, most people won't sea it anyway!This should be the font I use in my journal.You also can use the weird commands that let you make the letters either bold, italic or underline!There is also the |

Journal Background Ok, I have several people ask me how to add a background to their journals; hopefully I can explain it all with one post.First you'll need a site that will allow you to link to a picture from that site. I use http://www.liquid2k.com; get one there now.Secondly you need to upload your picture to your site. As soon as you have your site go there and upload it.Third, you'll need to modify your journal, using the modify journal page. You will be adding some lines of code in the box that says, "This is not where you type your journal!" Here is the code I have added to mine;GLOBAL_HEAD<= <=GLOBAL_HEAD**Basically it is all CSS, (Cascading Style Sheet,) code; this particular set-up will change my text size and make all the table backgrounds transparent.If you look where it says, "**background-image:url(http://liquid2k.com/justgoto/tankszone.jpg)**."You can see the site name, **http://liquid2k.com/**, then my name, **justgoto** and the background image **tankzone.jpg**. Make sure you keep every space and every puncuation mark, as is. The background is fixed and the table backgrounds are set to be transparent. Press here to see what I mean.If you like your table backgrounds, just make it like this;**GLOBAL_HEAD<= <=GLOBAL_HEADIt's all the same really, but the table and font code is gone. Picture Posting. (get a different site than the one I have here!!) I am going to be real busy for the next couple of days, I have to make a journal that can answer everyone of the questions I get everyday, If you have any questions, save them for a few days or look in the FAQ. I know I know, I just slave here so…Picture PostingThis is how you will post pics in your journal from liquid2k only!!! If you read these instructions and do everything as stated, you will have no problems! If you don't read this and ask a question that is explained in here I will not reply to you so read it! First you need to get a site at http://www.liquid2k.com. It allows you to external link, (lets you post pictures at a site other than where your pictures are stored.) I am using http://www.liquid2k.com because it works like a site should; it dosn't change your file name or edit your pictures and it uses your username to link to your pictures. Go there now and fill out the form before you do anything else. And when you choose your site name don’t use spaces, capital letters or odd characters. Don’t use anything other than lowercase letters. Uploading Assuming you have your site, close all of the liquid2k pages that are open, then go to this page; http://www.liquid2k.com/online/l2kpopup/popup1.html, then save that page into your favorites. Then enter the username you used for your site and password in the proper text boxes. Another browser will open, that is your file manager; wait until it loads completely then press the Upload Files button. There will be 10 different buttons that will be displayed that say Browse on them, press one of them and wait until the Upload window opens up that will display the files on your computer. Find the file you want to upload and double click on it. That window will close, when it does press the next button and pick your next file; continue doing that until you either have all the files you want to upload or have filled the 10 spaces provided. Below the 10 buttons is an Upload button, press it and wait until the page displays a message telling you that it has successfully uploaded your pictures. Remember! How to Display Special Characters in Your Journal Say you want to show someone how to display some kind of html code in your journal but you don’t know how to write it so the html will not take over and execute the code. Sure you could replace the < with ( or [ but they still might not figure out what is going on. There is the command but if you use that with really long codes your browser will end up 3 miles wide. I use the special characters I found at http://hotwired.lycos.com/webmonkey/reference/special_characters/.Some Special Characters< is this <> is this >& is this & If you want to show someone how to make these, you will have to know that one.
