The ROTOR Radar System. Hompage (original) (raw)
Why this site?
This site was created to give a general overview into what ROTOR was, what it was trying to achieve and why it was put into operation. Another aim of this site is to explain the function of ROTOR simply. It is by no means a full story packed with technical details that will provide all the answers. A lot of the technical issues are still yet unanswered.
ROTOR changed so fast with the advent of new technology that it would be impossible to follow the entire history on these pages. What I hope to achieve here is the production of a relatively basic guide to the concept, the structures and the construction of ROTOR site using diagrams and pictures. In a word, to provide the basics so the more complex information can be understood.
All the information contained on these pages is based on official documents of the period under ROTOR 1, this is not to say that it is a proof positive guarantee of being correct, as most documents regarding Rotor conflicted at some point in its history. Some items are included from other periods of ROTOR for interest.
