LAHORE: ZA Suleri, the renowned journalist, Pakistan Movement worker and a close lieutenant of the Quaid-e-Azam, breathed his last here on Wednesday evening.
He was 86.
He suffered a severe heart attack and was brought to the Gulberg Hospital but could not survive and died at 9.15 p.m.
Late ZA Suleri leaves behind five children, two sons and three daughters, besides a large number of grieved friends and well-wishers to mourn his death.
The burial will take place in Miani Saheb graveyard, but the time of 'Namaz-e-Janaza' has as yet not been decided, according to his family sources.

"Four of Suleri Saheb's children are abroad. They have been informed of the sad news and their arrival is awaited before timing for the funeral prayers is decided," the family sources said.
Late ZA Suleri had been a luminary in the field of journalism.
He had served the 'Civil and Military Gazette', was the Chief Editor of Pakistan Times, chairman of National Press Trust (NPT), member of Majlis-e-Shoora and media advisor to the Information Ministry during the days of late Gen. Zia-ul-Haq.
He had been contributing highly learned news items, articles and editorials for the country's print media and foreign press, since decades.
He leaves a rich legacy of service to the cause of healthy journalism.
Wedded to the manifesto of the founder party of Pakistan, he fought against many odds to defend the cherished ideology of the motherland.
He was a beam of light for those working for the cause of uplift of the nation, its solidarity and prosperity.
He was the most grieved person over the separation of the eastern wing of the country.
Late ZA Suleri was an advocate and torch-bearer of the PML's strength and popularity.
The Namaz-e-Janaza of late ZA Suleri will be held on Friday at Khalid Masjid, Cavallry Ground, at 2.00 p.m. after Juma prayers.
President Rafiq Tarar and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif have expressed deep grief and sorrow over the sad demise of ZA Suleri.
In his message to the bereaved family, the President said:
"I am deeply grieved to learn about the sad demise of ZA Suleri who devoted his life for the betterment of the country through his writings and intellectual thoughts. He was a great freedom fighter who took active part in the freedom movement. His services to the nation and the country would always be remembered. May Almighty Allah rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage fortitude to the family members to bear this irreparable loss with equanimity."
In his condolence message, the Prime Minister said:
I am deeply shocked and grieved to know about the sad news of death of ZA Suleri, a veteran journalist, an intellectual, freedom fighter. Please accept my heartfelt condolence and sincere sympathies. Late Suleri was a great patriot, and an eminent intellectual who contributed a lot in the national development through his writings. He always fought for the freedom and promotion of democratic values in the country.
May Almighty Allah shower His blessings upon the departed soul and grant fortitude to the bereaved family to bear this immense loss with patience.
Communication Minister Raja Nadir Pervaiz Khan also condoled the sad demise of seasoned journalist ZA Suleri and prayed for the eternal rest of the departed soul".ÑAPP
