UNESCO will publish its decision on the eventual inclusion of Galicnik Wedding in the list of world cultural and spiritual heritage in February 2003 - Cultural manifestation Galicnik Wedding will be held for the 40th time this year. Preparations are going on for its candidature for entrance in the list of cultural and spiritual heritage of UNESCO. The Union of Macedonian Folklore Ensembles sent the description of this act to UNESCO, which includes more than 30 different rites, while the board of the manifestation has been preparing the complete audio-visual material for precise detailing of the Galicnik Wedding in all its luxury and glitter. The deadline of this phase in June 30, when the material should reach UNESCO, followed by the final phase of solution, which is expected in February 2003. This years 40th edition of manifestation Galicnik Wedding is being prepared with special attention. You probably know that the weddings in Galicnik have traditionally been held on holiday Petrovden, with around 40 weddings at the same time, chairman of board of community Galicnik Dragan Bosnakoski states. For the purpose of reaching this number, we sent an appeal to all interested parties for a church wedding to be actively engaged in the Wedding this year. With more than 30 customs and rites, the Galicnik Wedding is, without a doubt, the richest ritual in the Macedonian folklore tradition. The richness of rites is in the function of the belief that they protect the couple and their new, mutual life from bad magic and spells. One of the main points of the Wedding is the folk costume, which is characterised with decoration, and richness of details. The brides costume is characterised by a special originality and typicality. The main characteristic of the costume is the rich decorative embroidery, with a technique entitled kinatica, with the colour red being the dominating one. The costume is also rich with fringes and rich metal jewellery. Old authors that wrote about their travels, who attended the real Galicnik weddings, stated that the bride in the Galicnik Wedding was a true princess. |
