Vefsn
The first town
Mosjøen was the first town Helgeland. The place was proclaimed already 1875 city.
This emerged through the development of the village of about 1865, as the Englishmen in the
around-lying communities erkauften bigger forest areas.
There were good possibilities for work. Forest workers and craftspersons moved into the
"city", that no more than 375 people count in the year 1875 after all.
One nominated Mosjøen of an Art Klondyke, with all plus and minus the modern company. One
can still see in Sjøgata how a village developed in einer of modern small city.
Vefsn Museum
Has two locations:
One installation near the church Dolstad and another installation in the center of town Sjøgata.
Vefsn Bygdesamling
(Vefsn village museum) with several buildings is in Dolstad, that the
life as well as in the city also as on the farm shows. There is auch clothes collection,
Spielzeugsammlung, Handwerkausstellung, the office of the eizigen Polizisten, residence
of the rich farmer, collected together with numerous objects of the household since 1900.
Also, there are several buildings like: Stall, fire place, a water house a cottage, that in
the 2. World war of the Linge-Soldaten was used.
The residence of the former police directors, built 1910, dient today as office of the
Museums, becomes Parterre, however, on the occasion of as society pubs rents.
Sjøgata
Is about 400 meters long. Approximately 100 monument-protected Haüser are in this
oldest settlement of the city. Vefsn museum possesses some of these buildings. However,
most houses are in the private possession. All houses are restauriert and stand even
nowadays exactly so, as they were built 150-160 years ago.
Vefsn museum was allotted before some years of the Olavsrose.
Jacobsenbrygga
Sjøgata 31 B., The two-storied building was presented Vefsnas at the shore
in 1880. In this building, there is Ausstellungen: Mosjøen in 1875. In the first stick,
there is a cafe, that the cafe life in Mosjøen wiederspiegelt, and an area where the
exhibitions change to time from time.
Kulturverkstedet
Is a Mehzweckhaus: Café, beautiful function rooms, Galerie / picture
sale. The house is used also for small concerts, lectures and meetings.
Dolstad church
Was presented in 1735. There is Klenodeum also from the first church in Dolstad (from the 1100). This baptize gel (from the 1782) in Dolstad church still is in use.
