Welcome to the official website for the Perry County Department of Tourism. Our mission is to provide an online informational source for potential visitors to the area. The beauty and elegance of Hazard and Perry County can easily be summed up with one simple phrase �A place to call home�. Conveniently tucked within the heart of the Appalachian coal-fields of Eastern Kentucky, this ever-growing community of Hazard and Perry County is truly a hidden scenic treasure. One could easily refer to the area as a geographical masterpiece for its abundance in plant-life, natural resources, and river systems.

Founded by Elijah Combs and his seven brothers in 1790, the county and its seat were later named for American naval hero Commodore Oliver-Hazard Perry.
