Born in South Africa but holds a British passport and was a late-season signing for Kent in 2005.

Had been playing as overseas professional for Sudbury CC and had just returned to South Africa for his 21st birthday party when he was unexpectedly called up by Kent.

Made his debut in the crucial Championship clash with Nottinghamshire at Canterbury, which Kent needed to win to keep their title hopes alive, and hit an unbeaten 79 in the first innings.

Also dismissed Australian opener David Hussey with the first ball of the second innings but he could not prevent a 214-run defeat which saw Notts clinch the title.

In his two Championship appearances and two totesport League games he did enough to earn a staff contract for 2006.
