There is a large hot spa area around the Azuma and Adatara mountains. Some of well-known areas are for example, Iizaka Spa(which is the best in Touhoku), Takayu Spa(where the gateway of Bandai Azuma Skyline), and Tsuchiyu Spa(which is the famous for wooden craft products for example:the Tsuchiyu kokeshi doll). There areas prosper as tourist resorts all the year round. More than 2,000,000 tourists visit here each year.

��IIZAKA

Several resort hotels rise along both banks of the Surikami Rive for two kilometers. Over 1,200 years ago,�gTakeru-no-Mikoto Yamato�h,an ancient warrior of the mythological era, was believe to have found the hot spa. Iizaka boarders on three prefectures, Fukushima,Miyagi and Yamagata.

��TSUCHI-YU

Considered to have the most abundant reservoir of hot water, this spa is situated south-east of Mt. Azuma halfway up the mountain. It is the home of the three most famous traditional �gKokeshi�hdolls in the Touhoku district.

��TAKA-YU

Situated 780m above sea level on a plateau at the entrance to the Bandai-Azuma Skyline. This hot spa is sulphurous. In winter this is also a ski resort.
