Bayston Hill Parish Council | Home (original) (raw)
Bayston Hill is an urban village of 5500 residents set in Shrewsbury's countryside fringe some five kms south-west of the centre of Shrewsbury. The village has a thriving village community with an active Parish Council, a busy village hall, Women's Institute, annual pantomime, etc., and a strong local identity. It also has well supported village facilities.
Whilst there has been a welcome increase in village-based employment in recent years, the majority of residents work in nearby Shrewsbury and Telford. Road links are good, with Bayston Hill located near to both the A5 and A49.
The open countryside surrounding the village is a major attraction for many of the residents. This, and the strong desire to maintain a separate identity to Shrewsbury, has led to a widely held belief that the village has grown enough and that there should be no more housing.
