Our aim is to support conservation work in Indonesia and Malaysia and to raise funds and awareness in the UK and overseas.In Indonesia, the Foundation protects Tanjung Puting National Park and other areas of critical orangutan habitat in Central Kalimantan, Indonesian Borneo, whilst also caring for and repatriating ex-captive orangutans into the wild. The Orangutan Foundation seeks to actively advise government policy and educate the public about orangutans, other fauna and flora and their habitat so that this vitally important great ape and rainforest home might be saved from extinction. Following the success of the award-winning postcard campaign urging UK supermarkets to join up the Roundtable of Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), in collaboration with fellow members of the Palm Oil Working Group, another postcard campaign has been launched in response to the growing demand for biofuels which will undoubtedly see a huge rise in land clearance. Currently, land clearance accounts for an additional 10-30% of global carbon emissions, therefore, we are urging MPs and MEPs to raise these issues with the Government to end the environmental destruction arising from our growing bioenergy market.
