Bob Schaffer is a Republican candidate in the 2008 congressional elections for the open Senate seat in Colorado. The seat is being vacated by Sen. Wayne Allard (R-Colo.), who has stated that he will not seek a third term. The primary will take place in August 2008. Schaffer served in Congress previously, as a Republican member of the House representing Colorado's Fourth Congressional District (map) from 1997 to 2003.

Schaffer was first elected to the House in November 1996, representing Colorado's 4th congressional district. While in Congress, Schaffer:

Schaffer signed a pledge to only serve three terms, and kept it by choosing not to seek reelection in 2002. He was succeeded by Rep. Marilyn Musgrave (R-Colo.) in January 2003.

Schaffer is seeking the Republican nomination in the 2008 congressional elections for the seat vacated by Sen. Wayne Allard (R-Colo.), who has stated that he will not seek a third term.[1][2]
