Present day cultivation of einkorn (Triticum monococcum), emmer (T. dicoccum) and spelt (T. spelta) in Spain is considered with reference to sowing, weeding, harvesting and threshing. Also discussed are the various uses to which grain from these hulled wheats are put included bread making and in feeds, while the straw is used for fodder, basketry and thatching. Some of the threats to the genetic diversity of hulled wheats, and problems with their in situ conservation, are briefly considered. (Abstract CAB ABSTRACTS, CAB International)
