Wolfgang's Aircrafts & Engines: Halbach Inrunner (original) (raw)

The motor shown here has a unusual shape and a unusual design - it is an inrunner with a halbach array rotor. Learn more about the Halbach array here: http://www.matchrockets.com/ether/halbach.html , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halbach_array.

Here is a litte Excel spreadsheet to find the proper geometrie: HalbachArraySize.xls

The motor stayed cold, the controller (TMM 40A) became a litte bit warm, the battery was rather warm at the end of the test run.

This motor would fit perfectly into "big nosed" planes like the SebArt Sukhoi 29 S50E or a WWII Warbird.
