Lake Pahoja Recreation Area is a 282 acre highly developed multi-use recreation area. It offers a wide variety of activities for all seasons. A few of the features at Lake Pahoja include: 6 open picnic shelters with modern restroom facilities and drinking water available, three playgrounds, two volleyball courts, a basketball court, and horseshoe pits. Two enclosed lodges are also available -- each containing four to six picnic tables, a fireplace, and outdoor pedestal grills. CLICK FOR LARGER MAP Rental Cabins at Lake Pahoja RENTAL CABINS Three efficiency cabins were built in the spring of 1998 by the employees and volunteers of the Lyon County Conservation Board. These rustic getaways were designed to provide a camping experience in which you do not need to pull a unit or pitch a tent. The cabins are one room, 14' x 14' with a 9' x 18' deck. They are designed to be accessible to persons with disabilities. Cabins have two sets of bunk beds . Each cabin includes electricity, sink with cold running water, microwave, hot plate, refrigerator, table, ceiling fan, broom and mop. Cabin renters provide all personal items such as linens, blankets, sleeping bags, pillows, cooking and eating utensils, etc. A picnic table and fire ring with a grill are provided for each cabin. These cabins are heated, but the water into the cabins in the cold winter months of the year. CABIN RENTAL & INFORMATION FORM (.PDF) RESERVATIONS The enclosed lodge & cabins may be reserved in advance. Campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis only. Reservations for the calendar year begin on January 2 and can be made by stopping in or calling the Rock Rapids office. A reservation is confirmed when payment is received. SHELTER HOUSE RESERVATION FORM (.PDF) Cabins Are All Near The Recreational Trail UPDATED FACILITIES All of the facilities have been made handicapped accessible along with the 1 1/3 mile asphalt hiking/biking trail along the north shore. A 3 2/3 mile hiking trail encircles the lake for the nature and exercise enthusiasts. Lake Pahoja Recreation Area is open year-round and offers a variety of recreation activities such as ice fishing, hunting, biking, bird watching, canoeing, plus a whole lot more. At the northeast end of the lake there is a 350' x 100' swimming beach and an adjoining comfort station for those interested in a little sun and fun! A Favorite Spot to Cool Off in the Summer FISHING & BOATING A concrete boat ramp and wooden dock are located on the north side of the lake. Boating is allowed on Lake Pahoja with electric trolling motors. Anglers can try their luck fishing for Largemouth Bass, Crappie, Channel Catfish, Perch, Bullheads, and Bluegills. A valid Iowa fishing license is required. The Lyon County Conservation Board is dedicated to maintaining the fishing quality of the lake and has established many artificial fish habitat stuctures. A fish cleaning station is also available to anglers on the north side of the park.
