The interactive pages below allow you to select any combination of fluorescent tags to examine their excitation or emission properties. Use this site to understand the differences or similarities between various available fluorescent probes. You can use the filter and laser buttons to compare excitation and/or emission properties with the filters that our confocal system uses.
For instance, note how the emission spectrum of Texas Red is mostly outside the bandpass width of the RGB dichroic mirror. This would indicate that a significant portion of the signal from Texas Red would not be collected by the system, requiring higher gain settings
to visualize this dye.
Also note that some blue dyes illustrated here are not appropriate for the confocal system because we do not have a laser that can excite these dyes in the ultraviolet spectrum.
